My brother doesn't have the space even for rudder pedals, never mind a full cockpit build. Currently he's using a crusty old Saitek 3D USB Gold I gave him years back and it's a bit crap.

So, desktop sticks (non FFB), what's a really good one now? 2nd hand on ebay is doable if no longer being produced but it needs to have lots of buttons (with a separate throttle box is ok too).

TIA. :)

Your budget?

Right now the most budget friendly hall sensored, is the Thrustmaster T160000m. I know some are maybe better and cost only a few Euro’s more, but as only being sold in a very few countries or made in limited  production runs,  also very difficult to get.

Strange the first response should mention that, half an hour ago he ordered the full flight pack (stick, throttle and pedals). There was a review from a guy who highly regarded it and at £169 too good to pass up.

He also bought the A3 yesterday, cussed when I told him a sale started shortly after, then he bought the G6. Thank VR for all of it, without that he would have had no interest (VR has blown him away). :)

Oh, when I mentioned the pedals were only 11" wide it turned out he does have the space. I've no idea what he has going on under his desk. Lol.

Since  "twist" rudder is imperative, get VKB Gladiator  (~$85 in X-plane.org, flightsimcontrols.com), is the only "entry-level" (>$100) with contacless sensor in "twist rudder", T.16000M use low cost/quality pot' there, and is the major cause of complains of users.

When he said he had no room he was unaware the pedals were less than a foot in width. He's bought the flight pack that includes rudders. :)

Thanks for the heads-up though. :)

Salutations,

In my opinion and for the money, the best beginner HOTAS. :coffee:

That’s what I’m saying for a couple of dollars more but not being sold in your country or not available https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=vkb-sim-gladiator

Advice is real simple stay away from non hall sensored JS and yep mostly the higher the price the better they are. But right now the Thrustmaster T16000m can not be beaten in price and after the MS-FFB1, Logitech-FFB and MS-FFB2 this Thrustmaster is still working great.

Think he made the right choice. Great stick, and great price for a full entry level setup. Happy flying!
