Freycinet Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 ...Just thinking, it would be pretty cool to be behind the first flight sim that could run on Oculus Rift... :-) With your background at Naturalpoint I'm sure you have a good idea of the challenges and possibilities of flightsimming on such a thing. Would be interesting to hear your opinion.
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 What do you think about it Frey, im still not sure myself. I would imagine its fantastic immersion for the actual flying, but is it practical for the home set up with all the other stuff that we do while simming? i still need to see my keyboard faily often in every sim i play, especially while testing and adjusting stuff in game. How would a pair of chunky headphones and mic fit in with it? Its a wonderful idea, but im not quite sold yet.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I get one in March hopefully so Ill let you know about all that. Im going to concentrate on trying to apply a camera to the device. So I can turn it on and see what Im doing, when i want, and the image will be displayed in front of my eyes possibly in the corner or maybe even with some opacity on the whole screen so I can still see the sim. The OR's that are going out are for Devs to make the production version better, so any and all ideas to improve it need to be explored then reported to Oculus, so that they can take the best ideas and put them in the consumer version. I just hope Loft and team can get it to work the best they can with the DN engine.
Freycinet Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Hooves, can't wait to hear your report...
Jason_Williams Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Sorry I did not see this post. I have not tried the Occulus Rift. So far they have not bothered to let me. I've made comments about this elsewhere on this and other forums. Jason
AA_Engadin Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Oculus Rift in FB: https://www.facebook.com/oculusvr Oculus Rift in Twitter: https://twitter.com/Oculus3D Oculus Rift in google+: https://plus.google.com/113411787268279141152/posts Let's press on them to get Jason to test one of their devices for the sim community.
