Sublime Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Hi all. I run on a laptop. I can post my speca. Nvidia card. Runs game 60fps fine high settings. I use a hdmi cable to plug into my.larger vizio flat screen. I still have a terrible time of spotting enemy planes. I know much is practice but Id be willing to take a hit (somewhat) in graphics quality if I could spot enemy planes at 5 to 9 km away (or further than now anyways!) My resolutions maxed out.. Would lowering my resolution make enemy planes that much easier to spot?? I blurred the landscape. Sharpened textures. The alpha (?) Or whatever I lowered as much as possiblw and Im gonna edit the file in 10 minutes. If you guys need my specs tell me Ill check the control panel (lol) But win 10 and it runs the game fine on almost maxed out settings. Thanks all in advance. And yes I searched. A lot. Any advice to let me know the direction at least to fiddle around in. Its not so easy to play around when. All changes require restarting the entire game and I dont wanna mess with things that wont even affect spotting. Performance is great - its just terribly hard to spot enemy planes at all. This is bad but I can deal in SP with the radio call outs and poorer AI. In MP its totally fatal however. Yes Im new to this game but not flight sims at all and the fact after 3 weeks of playing and maybe 12 hrs of MP i have 1 kill and 2 assists..

JonRedcorn Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Not really any graphics settings to help much, makes it fair for everyone from low to ultra settings. Just need to practice a lot. Bigger screen certainly helps. 1
Sublime Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 Really? Thats good because I plug it into my flat screen. I heard lower resolution helps but thatd be contrary to a big screen? I lowered it a couple notches and I honestly dont know. Ended up raising it. What DID help was editing that file to set gamma to .6 1 hour ago, SharpeXB said: No, IL-2 doesn’t use sprites or dots that will appear larger at lower resolutions. Thank you..
JonRedcorn Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 (edited) You should never run lower than native resolution on a flat screen monitor/tv. Also please do not make multiple threads about the same exact topic in multiple sub forums. Edited April 11, 2019 by JonRedcorn

It does scale up the LOD meshes at a distance in VR at least. You can see it when you zoom in on contacts. They sometimes actually shrink when zooming.
