Benmilam Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) Just purchased Vive. I have game. I added flying circus to steam. When I start game I am in the hangar but the sign in screen pops up which I can’t access. I don’t see any post of having problems playing so I am guessing I am missing something. HagarTheHorrible Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) Start up the game in 2D then head to the settings tab click on “Graphics” (?) and select “HMD VR” (?) and then restart game. I’m sorry I’m not near my computer (different Country) so I can’t check the exact options, but it’s fairly obvious once you start poking around ( a bit like the first fumblings with regard to sex). If you need to adjust your pilot default head position then you need to restart in 2D and adjust your view point from there (F10), a bit of a faf but there you go. Muff_Huggar Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 When VR starts up the mouse focus is often not on the game menu. Moving the mouse around will be erratic. When this happens, I flip the headset up and click the mouse on the game window on the flat screen. Then I can go back ton VR and move the mouse properly. There's probably a way to fix this.
Benmilam Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 another question. Do I need my joystick in VR or should I be able to grab stick in plane. My hand units do not show up.
Panzerlang Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Hand controllers don't have any function in IL2.

I have the same, try to set your ingame resolution one step higher, that did help me. if this mouse not active happen I always have to restart the game. I hope this Microsoft can be helpful https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/using-steamvr-with-windows-mixed-reality#play-steamvr-games and this https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-steamvr-windows-mixed-reality
Slap Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Good Luck with your VR/Flying Benmilam! I can only imagine what the amazing potential is with VR and flight sims....None of that body tracking stuff/paraphernalia required (unless one is doing a outside pre-flight aircraft check of course) as we are stuck in one place in cockpit. Maybe they could have a virtual keyboard or something as it seems difficult/must break the experience having to switch between both. Have fun and let us know how she goes!
the_dudeWG Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 I just purchased the Odyssey+ (on sale @Samsung for $299!), so I'll need to prepare my pc for vr as well. My biggest question is, why do people mention Steam when talking about vr? Do we need to be running IL-2 on Steam? As far as I know, Steam doesn't even know the Great Battles series exists. Also, I am going to have to upgrade Windows 7 to 10, right? I've had one failed attempt at it so far, but I didn't make any real effort to troubleshoot the problem. That'll take on a higher priority if it's a requirement for vr. Thanks for any advice. S!

Rhan_N_Singh Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Don't know if you have figured this out, but when using STEAM, Right click on the game icon and it will give you the option to start game in VR. It will be 2nd option down in the list. "Launch in Steam VR Mode" VR is the best way to fly. Only missing the G's, and as soon as some one figures that out... I may never leave the chair again. 1
