Psyrion Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 All of them! In that order! Ironman so you get to the next career quicker! 2
6FG_Big_Al Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Little tip. You can change your unit during the career mode. So feel free to switch from a Hs 129 to an Fw 190 Squadron! Or from an A20 to the lovely Spit ?
Sublime Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 LOL ok first yes always iron man. I reallly need to delve into ground attack. I was getting so tempted but with the A20 AND Hs129 (rarity... And it was Adolf Gallands ride for a while cmon..) So I need to learn. i have a ominous feeling though. No hotas or pedals. So im gonna bind both engines to one throttle hopefully its not a prob.

Sublime Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Uraah!!! How is that 1b? Im in love with the Yak7B since I got it
Willy__ Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) 5 hours ago, Sublime said: How is that 1b? Im in love with the Yak7B since I got it Its basically an uplifted Yak1, with better radiators, aerodynamics (faster), and a new canopy with MUCH better view. Armament wise it has 1x UBS (russian 50cal) and 1x Shvak (russian 20mm cannon), its simply the best russian plane until you get the La5-FN. If you like Yaks, you def gonna like the 1b, grab it when you have the chance, its def worth it Edited April 8, 2019 by Willy__
56RAF_Roblex Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) In terms of performance the 1b and 7b and almost the same. The 7b is just a few kmh slower and technically climbs slower but we are talking 0.1m/s at sea level and 0.7m/s at 3000m and you would never notice the difference in speed or climb even if flying in formation with a 1b. They both have the same best turn rate but the 7b does it at 310kph instead of 270kph so the 7b will allow you to fly faster while out turning your enemy. It is important to remember that when switching from 1b to 7b. The main differences are the canopy and the guns. The 7b has a very good rear view due to the canopy extending right back behind where the second seat used to be and it carries TWO 12.7mm Mgs (aka 50 cals) with 200 rounds each as well as the 20mm cannon with 120 rounds. The 1b has an almost perfect rear view with armoured glass and a single 12.7mm with 220 rounds and 20mm cannon with 140 rounds. The 7b takes damage better and there is also an extra smoothness in how the 7b flies and steadiness when firing that is hard to quantify in numbers though that does not mean that the 1b does not have exceptional handling. Personally, given the choice I tend to choose the 7b as I find that extra Mg makes more difference than you would expect, perhaps because it is combined with the steadier gun platform? Really though both are exceptional so I would not argue with someone who prefers the 1b as long as they have actually tried the 7b properly. Many people have just assumed the 7b must be inferior having heard it is slower and climbs slower but not realised how small the difference actually is and how much quicker that extra Mg allows you to kill a target. Sublime Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Oh I bet. LOL i was wondering about the Yak - went outside view and immediately seeing the pit was like "this is that plane the company making trainers turned into a fighter".. Still love it. Pretty sad that the Yak 7 has a "bubnle canopy" at least to me compared to the original - 1 1 hour ago, ME-BFMasserME262 said: Dat rear view... you feel like an owl when flying it All I could think of when you said dat rear view' 14 hours ago, sevenless said: He flew the Hs 123 in Poland, not the 129. Thanks LOL and theeere after a botched take off goes one of my last reasons to duck around However playing around for the first time with 2 engined planes I did like how that A20 flew
Sublime Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 I got more planes I wanna fly than time I mever thought Id like an italian plane Now I want a career starting in 41 with that.. Then I want a German FW career starting in 42 again. Then I wanna delve into ground attack. Even MORE pressing is my dire need to play a Yak7B career. Spitfire career too... And get in MP!!! LMAO hey these are good problems though. Seriously 2 out of 3 of these games are thanks to the generosity of Spartan and Tzigy. They and this community are awesome only.comparable thing is CM's community. When my employ.ent situation is fixed I plan to find a couple enthusiastic n00bs and get them a premium version or 2.
RedKestrel Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 I've been working through the fighters from Battle of Moscow onwards, full campaigns. So far I've played the I-16, the MiG-3, and the Yak-1. I've also got one Il-2 campaign each for Moscow and Stalingrad when I'm feeling in a ground attacky mood. So far no career for heavy bombers though. So far I haven't even touched Kuban's career mode. I've been playing more online lately. But I've still got oceans of untouched content even before Bodenplatte releases...
Diggun Posted April 8, 2019 Posted April 8, 2019 32 minutes ago, RedKestrel said: But I've still got oceans of untouched content even before Bodenplatte releases... A very good, and often under-made, point. One day I will figure out how to take off in the HS-129.... I spent ages scared of the MIG too, until recently I started using it more, @Sherrif's videos being an essential guide as always, and have been loving the little blighter...
Sublime Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Ironically the Mig 3 was one of the planes my n00b (to thid game series to be fair not simming) did very well with initially. But yess sheriff or requiems vids are essential. Amy new plane I recommend downloading chucks guide and another guide by mscion. I download those for cockpit and spec ref. Then just search youtibe il2 bos how to (plane name) every planes been done. Some they have combat vids too. But it works. First playing I destroyed my Il2 engine right after rotating. I can fly it now ay least. I couldnt take off the Hs129 (and not because ground looping. Just power) I can at least fly it around now. Reallly after that since the game lacks voice over tutorials like the other game but also because the only way those tutorials reallly would be necessary is if they made the planes an entire magnitude more detailed; or for say level bombing and advanced air combat. Otherwise as is does well. You learn to fly the plane as a plane and combats... On the job.. My .02 cents I still have yet to do any sort of ground attack work with a ground pounder plane. Its hard to see the targets. I bombed a convoy successfully... And strafed 1 truck with a spit and got so shot up I was captured when I ditched 20 miles away i love dogfighting.. However I am looking forward to startinf to delve into A2G. Probably with stukas, 110s, and Il2s. Or a 129 because the novelty. I mever seen anyone else do one. The A20 and stuff looks awesome and I took one off and it ZOOMS and is fum to fly. Im VERY doubtful about my level bombing abilities tho

Most of the fighters are actually really good for strafing attacks, especially for taking out AA guns and the better visibility helps to line up your attacks. Best thing to do with the Il-2 is to search for targets with the canopy open for a better view, then close it and your oil radiator on your attack run. Then open them up again once you're out of range and do it all over again.
Sublime Posted April 8, 2019 Author Posted April 8, 2019 Thannk you. Actually nit as bad as I thought once I dived in. Of course the AI helps.. *cough* Oil radiators are especially vulnerae to ground fire right?

It’s described in the pilot’s notes.
Sublime Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 (edited) Must have missed that. Thanks. So I can look at the pilots notes and exhaustively compare numbers. But I could more easily ask the pilots here and start a discussion. So Il2s 1941, 42 and 43. Pros and cons of all? 1943 probably being the best with the blister turret etc, but maybe not? Arent the 1941 models pretty fast? Just how effective is the rear gunner anyways? Maybe hes not even worth it..? Any tips otherwise? Btw for those who havent heard of it I downloaded an awesome 100 something page ground attackers hand book. Its excellent even not just for ground attack Oh and ps. With say an A20. If I wanna do low level passes I eyeball instead of using the sight, can I "skip" bombs off water like Il2 46? Edited April 9, 2019 by Sublime
