4SCT_Vespa Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Hi guys, I got in trouble with IL2 after latest WIndows 10 update. The game doesn't start anymore; I mean, I can run the launcher, I can update the game but when I click PLAY I see the IL2 icon in the Windows bottom bar...but the game doesn't start. I've set up the game to run as Admin...of course. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the game....nothing. In the Windows program manager I see the Launcher and IL2 but I can just close the program from there... Any help?
No.85_Camm Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Have you uninstalled the game and deleted all the relevant flies then rebooted your computer before you re-install the game?
4SCT_Vespa Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 I have uninstalled the game...then manually deleted all the data but not restarted the game before re-installing. I'm going to to do....SOB! 11 Gb. Thanks for hint...I'll report about success or not
4SCT_Vespa Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 No good luck. Here you are what I did: - Uninstalled the game - Manually deleted all the folder not remove by uninstaller - Performed a registry clean using CCleaner - Turned off the PC - Turned on the PC - Re installed the game Nothing: the launcher can run and install all the files...but when I click PLAY the game doesn't start.
Thad Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Try using the IL2.exe to start the game. The Launcher.exe is normally only used to update the game. 1
4SCT_Vespa Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 Thanks for feedback Thad; I already tried to start the game clicking on the IL2.exe file, as Admin. Same result I'm really get crazy...the game was working fine till few days ago....
Thad Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) Shut down any unwanted or unnecessary app running in the background. In Settings, check/uncheck Use 4K Textures Shut down any mods you may have running. In settings, uncheck Enable Mods. Check out the free download site below. It may help. It helped me. SCG_Slater Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 My game starts, well to the main menu, when I try to start any game mode, it crash. Uninstall remove all related Il2 data reboot reinstall same issue, not working.
SCG_Slater Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Nothing works, the program just freeze. Spoiler Edit: I removed all my OC on my GPU and all the OC add-on apps, i was then able to run the game. Edited April 12, 2019 by Slater
Nordo135 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 I have BOS, BOM, BOBP, and FC Since last update, I'm having same problem. Same symptoms. Same Launcher icon in tray. Same "can only close in task mngr." Tried starting from .exe as well as AV on/off, firewall on/off, Admin user, uninstall/reinstall, turn off seeding, no 4K, no mods, no OC, etc. No joy. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch
Nordo135 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Forgot to mention. Trouble is unique to this sim. No problems on DCS, RoF, X-Plane, FSX, iL-2 '46, iL-2 CoDB, SH5, etc. if that helps.
4SCT_Vespa Posted June 3, 2019 Author Posted June 3, 2019 No way to fix this issue...and seems that 1C doesn't care about that. I just have to remove this poor game and switch to DCS

I just have to remove this poor game and switch to DCS Hi mate, I just have seen all the steps you did to solve your problem - all fine and good, what you did. But one thing you apparently did not mention or even forgot to do is: Undo all the overclocking tweaks you might have on your system. This is very important, because I once did some overclocking and pushed it a little bit too far - for IL2 at least. All games worked OK and stable with my overclocking tweaks, but apparently there was one step beyond, making IL2 running stable impossible. So I just removed all tweaks and checked, if IL2 was now running. And - tata - the game was running again well. Then, I started to overclock again - step by step and always checked if IL2 was still running well - until IL2 stopped working, so I knew now, how far I could go with my overclocking. I really recommend to try this before you damn this game. Cheerio
Nordo135 Posted June 4, 2019 Posted June 4, 2019 Good idea. Tried NO overclock. No joy. Even tried moving to another physical drive. I doubt that 1C-777 doesn't care, but them admitting even a tiny bit might be their fault equals too much liability to say anything, and that assumes they're completely innocent. (Not pointing fingers, but potential issue rhymes with Blindows) Still,....about >$200 USD in total investment down the toilet following one patch is not encouraging. Not counting I've bought every single retail release iL-2 has had since the very first. Even that Xbox thing. Otherwise,...buyer beware. I'm hoping iL-2's next big update inadvertently forces stuff back to original configuration. Beer therapy "should" take care of that.
grumppee Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I installed the latest Windows 10 update yesterday. The update however did not support my Sound Blaster X-Fi driver, which in turn left me with no audio. Strangely enough BOM would not start either. I would get to the loading screen, and get booted back to the desktop. Thankfully Creative updated the driver for the current Windows 10 release which fixed my audio and BOM loading issue.
