Please advise as to which folder I must place these (to overwrite the historically-incorrect skins) - I don't use the mod facility.

Sure

 

Default = \IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\Planes\target folder\Textures\?????.dds

Others = \IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\graphics\skins\target folder\?????_skin_*.dds

 

Target folder = the aeroplane in this case it is bf109f2, not sure if you have to select enable mods at the start of the game, but I do as default, even though  I don't use Mod's either......well yet.

I’ve just.been correcting the offical 4K skins as they come along,, as I was doing it for myself anyways I decided to share, so the short answer is yes but only as the get officially updated, most if not all those in 2K have already be done and there is a thread dedicated to this in the mods section, if you have not already been there. They’ve also update the thumbnails, which is something I plan to try and do also.

The stock Fw190A-8 skins have been upgraded to 4K and will be in an upcoming update.  Don't devote any time to updating the A8 yet spudkopf :)

Seeing that I’ve just moved house, sadly setting up of my study and the PC are a low priority (apparently the kitchen and the bedrooms are more important), so not much likely to happen for a few more days in that regard.

 

But thanks for the heads up anyways, and very much looking forward to seeing your A8 4K beauties.

Can only agree, so much so this is only the 3rd time that I've moved in my 50 plus years (I was only 3 for the first one so that does not count), and during each move I have sworn black and blue that the next move would be into a pine box. Even after almost a week I still seem to be surrounded by what seems to be a endless sea of boxes, my still boxed library on its own is cluttering up half of one of the rooms awaiting some bookshelves to be purchased and assembled (IKEA to the rescue), and then there's all the boxes of hobby stuff (I have far too many of them) out in the shed.

 

The PC is at least unpacked but as of yet not set up, I have to try and plug all the important peripherals (Joystick, Throttle and Rudders) back into the places from whence they came to hopefully avoid the need to reassign them in game.    

 

I hope tho do this, this weekend and get the update installed so I can look at historically correcting the Me262A, Fw190A8 and the Bf109F4 default skins.

I moved house 2 years ago, what a nightmare! I know what you are going through, so much to organise and unpack before your life has returned to some normality...

Plugged in and downloaded, now just got to extract the files, hopefully later today. I still need to neaten and sort out all the cables, but that sort of detail can just wait.

Seems to be really nice as "mod"...

Just something I should have missed, even if I put the.dds file in planes/textures, etc, I can't find anything difference (i.e. Balkeunkreuz).

Can you confirm me what to do exactly with the files?
