Blackhawk_FR Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) I'm not sure to understand how destruction of trucks (especially with machine guns) works now. For example on a server, I shoot a lot of bullets (2 passes) on a truck, and there was still no visual clues of damages on it (also, no kill notification on chatlog). But, few seconds after my attack, the server stated the objective was destroyed. As I was alone on that objective, I guess it's possible to destroy trucks with machine guns. But can you confirm that now, there is no (or almost no) more visual damages on trucks due to the new DMs? By the way, on another flight, I shoot at some trucks with dual 37mm (Stuka). Still no visual damages at all, no kill notification... I guess the truck was already destroyed without visual clue of that? Just trying to figure out how it works now. Thx you. Psyrion Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 (edited) Durability is set in the mission editor so how much damage things take varies. The values changed recently (3.012) so there's a really good chance that the missions on many servers have wrong values now. Edited April 5, 2019 by Psyrion 1 1
migmadmarine Posted April 5, 2019 Posted April 5, 2019 It is also possible for a truck to count as destroyed by killing the driver, breaking axles, etc.
=FEW=fernando11 Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 (edited) Indeed, a truck, or Tank, can be destroyed with little visual indication. A Tank with a missing roadwheel or damaged trak count as destroyed, but it can also have smoking engine, or even blow up just like before. My 2 cents, if with cannons, make sure you get some hits, and change target. Edited April 6, 2019 by =FEW=fernando11 Misspeled
Mac_Messer Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 (edited) With mg soft targets can be destroyed without visual cues. This is particulary noticeable when using a mg in a tank, nothing really happens the truck just stops in its tracks. With cannon I never noticed lack of visual cues. If hit, the target starts trailing smoke or has a skewed wheel. HE cannon fire doesn`t have to be a direct hit to cause that. It looks a little awkward when an armored transport gets hit directly, with the effect being skewed wheel but the gunner on the top remains intact visually. Edited April 6, 2019 by Mac_Messer
blitze Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Gow-d if only it was realistic like Hollywood and trucks, people and packed lunches all went up in huge fireballs when you look at them. Yet alone shoot them with mg's. ? Yeah - sometimes I wonder if it is worth keeping up a column attack when I am just down to MG's. I also like save a little ammo for the home flight just in case I get bounced.
Field-Ops Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I would like MG's to no longer cause explosions of light vehicles without hitting vital parts such as fuel tanks. Perhaps just leaving them to fires with no explosions would be even better. The only things I can imagine going boom are artillery emplacements.
Feathered_IV Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 More attention certainly needs to be given to the smoke and flame effects. A destroyed object burns for a ludicrously short time before disappearing. It just isn't good enough.
BraveSirRobin Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 This is the downside, or upside, to more realistic damage for vehicles. It's no longer always obvious when a vehicle has been destroyed.
migmadmarine Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 Well, maybe leave the trucks detonating, since if they are carrying munitions, that is reasonable. Things like staff cars etc probably shouldn't go boom, but rather should just catch fire.
