SAS are not impressed hahahaha.

Don't know what's so funny about it, but truth is that the really new content is indeed impressive, whereas the other 90% have been available as mods before, read: TD took mods from the modding community and integrated them in their mod "4.14".

That much that good, but this time TD decided to lock down 4.14 so that modders can't put their hands on the content of that pack anymore.

Kind of a "we took what we could get from you, but we won't give anything back" attitude of TD towards the modding community.

That's new, that's bold, that's not impressive and eventually it makes 4.14 an epic fail.

I disagree completely. The Mods and the moders are what killed IL2 1946 by dividing a community already... you know what i mean.

You mean "...who kept IL-2 1946 alive during the past 10 years".

90% of what's being celebrated as "new" in 4.14 is mods and has been available as such for about a decade now.

From modders.

For free.

Without any such strings attached like we see with the ill-fated 4.14 now.

Anyway.

Time to carry on.

Not much to see here either way.

Just remember the pre-mod period, all the community on 1 sim... 90% of mods are just cosmetic. the updates of DT makes the sim more realistic. Exp the bombing in 4.13 , the IA in 4.12....

Well, 4.14 doesn't seem to like the current edition of DCG - so that is pretty major to me. Just can't have my IL-2 1946 without Lowengrin's Dynamic Campaign Generator so 4.14 won't get any playtime from me until resolved.

I'm not brave enough to install it. I'll let someone else be that guinea pig.

You wont have to worry about being a guinea pig.....

The truth is TD used this update to put what could be considered malware on users pc's by adding a program to their update that seeks out files they don't want you use and deletes those files from your install.....

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=230294

The only honest thing they added were two new cockpits. The rest of the time between updates was to find more ways to screw people.

The truth speaks for itself.

I have both vanilla 4.14 and SAS BAT. I have made few maps to IL2 with Agracier. I still use original sometimes. It looks quite good with sweetfx. I love the new Pacific Islands online map too.

Truth is that mods are keeping old IL2 alive.

But Team Daidalos must do things differently. IMO both are needed, official and modded versions.

Mods can screw things for onliners and installing is a pain for many average simmers.

Not everybody want to have all the maps and stuff. But i do. I wish happy skies to SAS and Team Daidalos

I just keep 2 installs of the game.

One is vanilla, one is my favourite modded version... problem solved   :)

Regarding DCG

From Lowengrin:

"

Okay, it appears 4.14m doesn't like DCG replacing DGEN.  And it even doesn't like the DGEN_BAK.EXE sitting in the game folder even after unchecking the option to replace DGEN with DCG (where it automatically copies DGEN back over the DCG imposter).  I got around this by deleting DGEN.EXE, starting IL2 and then clicking replace DGEN with DCG.

It'll work, but you'll have to do this every time you start IL2."

...and yes, I as well will have a stock 4.14 install, but I think I GREATLY prefer a 4.13.4 with YPack and an easier functioning DCG and that is going to get far more playtime.

I wasn't laughing at your guys anger, I was laughing because you guys are hilarious on your website. TD can go fly a kite, literally stealing the communities work. I am on your guys side.

Wow, this installer-hassle actually sounds like TD really wants to stop developing '46, and so they created a good reason for it. By being not hard-to-get, but hard-to-want.
