This variant appeared gradually around October 1942 integrated in mixed formations with single-seaters and the two-seater have been more numerous over time.

 

If the SP career mod could offer this possibility in mixed AI formations it will hold surprises and surprises when ground attack interceptions.

Do you mean you would like to see mixed formations of single and two-seater IL-2s when intercepting them?

 

Because, if you fly as the commander of your IL-2 unit, you can select the "loadouts" for each plane on every mission, so you can equip some of your wingmen (and yourself if you want) with the gunner.   However, keep in mind that the gunner slows you down enormously - you loose something like 40 kph.

 

 

Also, during Kuban career you get mixed IL-2(42) / IL-2(43) formations by default. As a commander you can pick the model for each pilot if you want.

I've encountered mixed formations of these when flying Axis, and been assigned escort missions of mixed formations when flying VVS.
