oilman Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Well I have not purchased "Tank Crew" yet. But I did buy one of the cheapest Great Battles options to get my foot in the door. I bought it primarily to try out the tanks. And to see if I could get away with an older computer. Very briefly my "New" computer I just built over the last few months is a ASUS PQ5 series, Q9650, 8gb DDR2, with two ATI HD 6850's and onboard Realtek sound. I tried to get my 4670 Soundblaster with Live drive going but W10 seems to have a serious hate-on going for older parts and with the live drive and my 5.25" floppy I had to admit defeat. The SB worked/ works fine in Ubuntu btw, didn't even have to load anything. It was just there and working. ..... if only I could get decent sim games to run in it..... I have a 32" monitor hooked up. But for tank sims. Since most of my time is spent looking down a gun site. I find I'm enjoying working with my 17" Trinatron better. Much nicer visuals. Anyways as you know I can only get away with the one video card. Which is very disappointing. Nothing says Phallic symbol like two video cards running. But the game does run well enough. 20-40 fps but mostly so far up in the thirties. I find anything above low teens quite enjoyable for a tank sim. Main thing is its running smooth and no noticeable pausing or stuttering. Questions that pop to mind. Is the game play in Tank Crew different in any way. Physics. Graphics etc. How do I turn invincibility off. The only real danger I have encountered so far is driving off the bridge. Or making a minor course change and rolling upside down. Frozen bushes seem to be a real concern too. Otherwise I seem to be as unkillable as a Hollywood hero in a gunfight. My tank shells seem to be made with a depleted uranium tip and a small thermonuclear charge inside. Are there more realistic ballistic options available or coming? Are they there in the TC version already? Will there be different HUD options available? I know a HUD is not realistic. But I'm thinking ammo loading here. I don't don't speak Russian, unfortunately. One of the things I liked about ammo loading in SF and TVT is the vsual help and the loader calling out the loading request (order).

Salutations, There are many settings available for graphic quality adjustment. One can experiment to get the best performance. The same game engine is used throughout the series. So physic, graphics etc. should be the same. Invincibility should not be on to begin with. It can be selected/unselected in a units advanced settings within the mission editor. Unknown about future ballistic options. But the developers strive for historical realism in their work. I don't expect any major changes to the game HUD. One can turn it off during play. Tank Crew is in its' infancy of development. I think it will continue to evolve and get better and better. Welcome to the community.
SCG_Neun Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 One thing the developers have shown over the years is that they are constantly updating the game with improvements. You might not find all the features you like within Tank Crew, but for me it's a lot of fun to play and it has great potential. It's a breath of fresh air from flying and channels some historical branching out into the ground combat side of the Eastern Front. Spreading out into a combat spread formation with 8 or more panzers, engines throbbing, dirt kicking up from the tracks....is a hoot. Right now like Thad stated, the game is just getting up on it's feet, so online servers highlighting tanks are few and far between. Single player missions are available, but long term campaign/career play does not exist for the most part. So don't expect too much, too soon. In the meantime, I'm having fun with the game in it's current state but I'm looking forward to those updates when they come out. 2
