Nil Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I had it installed with daidalos patched up to date, but my dvd-burner sounds like jericho trumpets, and I buy everything digital because of that. Been annoyed having to use the DVD each time I had to start it up, but noticed that the Steam version have it with Daidalos patches up to date!?, and had 10€ in my steam wallet.. so now I own it again, and again and again.. and so on, for each old update I bought, and for the new free ones too!
Bando Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 You like it that much he? I bought the CD version (lost my first one in a house move) a couple of years ago. Never got around to installing it. I then saw some great youtube films with beautiful landscape and realised it was the same sim. 'Got to install it" I figured, but it was a mess. It was like learning to read chinese. Then ROF came along, CloD (discarted but recently reinstalled) and DCS world with the A10 and the P51. I probably will never install 1946 again, but what a game it was back in those days. I hope Luthier will succeed with the DCS WW2 sim. I hope this BoS dev team will continue to work on new scenario's. But 1946 will slip back in memory, just like EF2000, F117, B17, SWOTL and a whole bunch of other great games will.
Nil Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 I don't think that the DCS WW2 sim will get any bigger crowd, sadly for Luthier. I myself isn't at the least interested in it. As 41-43 are the only period of WW2 that really interests me.. (same as 15-early 17 in RoF) .. I'm a midwar kinda guy And IL2:1946 is still as good as it was, it only have overwhelming competition during the alpha-weekends :D

IL-2 1946 is just the best. For a sim that's built around something that's 13 years old now it's pretty mind numbing how much fun it can still be. With over 300 flyable aeroplanes and I can't remember how many maps but I think it's over 100. The only thing that made me mad was the switch to HSFX from the Ultra Packs. Nil Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 i have it on steam and i have trouble with hypperloby finding the executable so just with the steam version i need no farther patch? If you install it on default location the exe should be at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL 2 Sturmovik 1946' and add the exe to the path, And yup it's updated to the .2 fix even, straight from download
1./JG42Nephris Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Maybe some of you are interested to join our weekly Coop Session. Since more than a year we fly dynamic campaigns generated by DCG. Atm we are in the mediterean sea above Malta 1942 to prepare the jump to northern africa. You will find some info on our dedicated website. Meeting point is each thrusday evening 19:45h (MET) in TS of JG42. We fly at Il2 1946 4.12.2@HSFX 7.0.2. Basically we use to fly 3 missions, shot pilots can view in a seperate channel their comrades fighting and arn´t off the game. Red and blue slots are available and we can surely talk about desired and theatre suited aircrafts. Edited February 28, 2014 by 1./JG42Nephris
6./ZG26_Emil Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Me to but I'm having some wierd problems with it at the moment. I tried QMB and if I crash and hit escape I don't get any option to refly/end mission etc I have to CTRL ALT Delete, kill the game and load it again.

The work TD has done is fantastic.. IL-2 1946 is just the best. For a sim that's built around something that's 13 years old now it's pretty mind numbing how much fun it can still be. You do realize that that had nothing to do with Team Diadalos.. or HSFX for that matter.. and everything to do with the folks at Ultra Pack don't you?
352nd_Wheels Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 You can also get a download version of IL-2 1946 from GoG and not have any DRM or some other problems associated with the Steam Version. (Some do, some don't have problems with the Steam version.) IL-2 1946 @ GoG: http://www.gog.com/game/il_2_sturmovik_1946 Since I don't have it I don't know if all of these problems with the Steam version have been fixed but I was able to get the QMB problem solved with one of the Daidalos Team patches a while back. It is my understanding that the GoG version does not have the missing folders problem.
