Holman Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I haven't pre-ordered yet, but I'm getting close. How is performance compared to Rise of Flight? If a computer runs RoF at medium-high settings, will this game be good for the same? Thanks!
VBF-12_Stick-95 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I think IL2 BOS actually runs better than ROF, at least, so far. By better, I mean fps.
=69.GIAP=RADKO Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) It's very hard to say how the final product will run. In it's current state it runs very well however the game hasn't been completely optimised yet and features such as clouds haven't been implemented to add extra strain on performance. I suggest to wait a little longer and see how things progress. I wouldn't be surprised if BoS demands a little from your PC than ROF does. None the less I'm still very pleased with how the alpha currently runs. Edited February 27, 2014 by =69.GIAP=RADKO
Fifi Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I wouldn't say BOS runs better than RoF. It's only at 40% finished, with lack of many stuff (i.e clouds etc) and experiencing sometime some slow down even on Balanced settings, while RoF is running smooth as butter full maxed with plenty planes + ground objects (PWCG). Furthermore, i can't say BOS looks better than RoF on my rig. "Old" RoF still amaze me, running it with some stunning mods made by its fantastic community + SweetFX. BOS will have hard time to outshine RoF IMO

FuriousMeow Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 It's incomplete, many placeholders and a lot to get added. It'll change over time and so will performance. It's really not worth it to compare it to anything yet graphical wise or performance wise.
SYN_Mike77 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 If the subject matter interest you I'd buy it. What are your computer specs, if I may ask? That might allow us to give you a better answer.
AX2 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) If a computer runs RoF at medium-high settings, will this game be good for the same? Thanks! I clearly understand your point. My answer : NO ___________________________________________________________________________________ But Check all pages of the topic http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/3825-preset-optimization/page-3 Maybe for you is YES. Holman Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 Thanks for the replies, all! My machine is an Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, Win 7 64-bit, Radeon HD 5800. It's getting older, but ROF does great with it. It's probably too early to expect performance specifics. I was just wondering whether this new game would be a little more or a whole lot more demanding.
SYN_Mike77 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I think if you update your video card you will do fine
AX2 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 RoF is a perfect balanced between GPU and CPU, you can play RoF Nvidia 9800 GT in medium settings. For now , BoS need more GPU than RoF. I have I have a 560 ti and I feel uncomfortable in BoS ...For now is an alpha But I think buy a new Nvidia GTX 770 or ATI R9 280X , indispensably for BoS can run smoothly maybe.
BeastyBaiter Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 At this particular instant on my system, I get 45 fps typically on a career mission in RoF on medium high. In BoS I get ~30 fps on "balanced" or high. This is with a radeon 6850. I blame a lack of optimization tbh. That will come later.
Obelix Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Bf 109F4 is faster than a Spad XIII... ... let le get out! 1
s8n Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 i have same specs except i have a 7950 card and mine runs great!
Nil Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Only thing that isn't 4+ years old on my computer is my GeForce 770 GTX And so far I think BoS runs better in ultra-settings in the 109 attack of the IL2 and lagg escort mission, then it did in RoF with HDR on high against one plane (put RoF HDR down to medium and it runs flawless even at bigger fights) So we'll see how it turns out Edited February 28, 2014 by Pigmachine
silent_one Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 My System appears comparible to his. I seem to be ok on the standard map but it struggles on the stalingrad map. I als noticed it really struggling playing the intercept mission as bf109. There were periods of bad stuttering.
J4SCrisZeri Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I think if you update your video card you will do fine +1 the rest of the machine is not bad, just slam in a good gpu and you're ok.
