jaygee485 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 My WH throttle lever axis functions perfectly well in the Windows calibration, and is shown as 'working properly' in control panel. In the sim, it works perfectly when the aircraft is on the ground, allowing subtle increments/decreases, with the aircraft throttle lever moving exactly in unison with the WH lever. I can taxi, do U-turns and take off with the aircraft throttle reacting precisely to my inputs on the WH. This is the same in all of the only three planes I've flown so far. However, as soon as I take off, that changes dramatically. Any increase past 50% results in aircraft throttle jumping to 100%, and slight decreases result in a drop to 0%. By juggling the WH lever up and down in rapid, minuscule inputs I can eventually get a throttle setting close to what I'm aiming for, but after sometimes less than a minute, with no inputs from me, the aircraft throttles back up to 100% or back down to 0%. Sometimes, when I've managed to get it to maintain a steady setting, as soon as I climb or dive even gently it goes wild again, and sometimes it just fluctuates up and down randomly in level flight. If I look down I can see the aircraft throttle moving back and forth, while I'm not even touching the WH. All this is no help at all for a student pilot. It's a wonder that I've managed so many successful landings with this handicap (as well as a few bent props and ground loops) I've checked for new drivers, but found none. All buttons/switches that I've mapped to the throttle console function correctly. This is the first time the throttle has been used, so it may just be faulty out of the box, but hopefully a WH user or past user may have an idea why this is happening.
Sokol1 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 If you are playing game in "NORMAL" mode the "Cruising control" - a kind of "throttle autopilot", can be the culprit. If is the case, use CUSTOM mode and turn-off" all this (gamey) aids. 1 1

While trying to learn just how to take off and land, without engine management distractions, I was using multiple engine management cheats. As soon as I turned off cruise control my throttle started behaving itself. Such a relief to finally get control of my throttle setting! Many thanks Sokol1, my training just got a whole lot easier.
