New player question on aircraft.. About LA5FN etc.

Ok so I got the LA5 and Im in love the FN I dont have and thats a little ways off before I can afford Kuban or its on sale.

That said - and please no charts I can look at charts but I suck at math - how much better does the La5FN handle feeling wise?  Is the wing design chanhed too or is it just a stronger engine?

On tbe original LA5 theres a field mod for a better engine. Whats that like a halfway between the original and FN engine?

Also Im going to read up on it more but how much of a leap forwrd is the Yak7 over say the Yak1 B (not vanilla Yak1)

Are Yak1Bs obsolete in comparison or no..?

Bear with me I have a couple more questions I cant think of at the moment..

La5FN is best red side fighter in game. Compared to La5 its faster, better climb, better turn, better visability, more max time you can use engine, better roll...even easyer engine menagment

Must buy for sure.

Only problem is unlike 190s this airplane dosent get refraction effect of tick armor glass on angle modeled so your front aim is even wors then it should be.

 

Yak1b for me is best yak in game, its faster then yak7, better view, same climb, only half second wors turn, and it has one less 12.7 then yak7b, but more 20mm bullets. 

Also must buy...

 

if you plan to play on red side as fighter then just skip Kuban and get Yak-1b and La5FN when they get on 40 or 50% sale next time.

But Kuban is good to get because of 190a5 and 110g2 if your axis fan they are worth the price of 33% off kuban standard for example.

Thank you but if I dont have Kuban how can I fly them?? Only quick battles and MP? Fair enough. I just got work so Ill probably buy the FN - then Kuban for map and planes then Yak1B. This may change if I get into MP and dont suck as hard as I fear I will.

I would already have tried to buybthe FN but I thought I need Kuban??

If you have any airplane you can fly it on any map in game in MP if server has that map.

 

Yak-1b and La5Fn are collectable airplanes that are not tied to any DLC.

you can buy no mater of what DLC you have or not have.

 

for BoBp there wil be after relise 190d9 and p-38J also. You could only have BoS standard for example and you could just buy with no problem any of them from that list. 

 

Dont know if you would be able to play campaign or carier with them do, but in MP you could fly them anywhere if server mission has them available

Im a fan of both sides but since I got premium bom and bos I fell in love with the. Mig3 and now reg LA5.  Yes if LA5FN and Yak1B ever goto sale 50 percent off Ill buybthem just to get 2 for 20 bucks.  Ill get the Kuban somewhere else on sale or something. I intend to own all of these but itll take time. Im basically retiring from DCS but I cant nit get the F14 module.  I grew up in love with that plane.

If I can buy the planes and not the battle pack thats huge and good to know - for example Bodenplatte. The map and stuff? Cool. Most the planes? Im not as interested.  The P38, P47 and spit are. About it. I have a p51 D in DCS.  Its a decent plane but its not an amazing dogfighter its just a good plane and decent enough. Its really the pilot skill and range that made it so imoortant.  For a flight sim of course this makes it less exciting

 

Excellent ok thanks. Yes I noticed no matter what Ill have to buy my dear FN. So on sale Ill get it or if not when my pay catches up. Also if Kuban goes on sale Ill gst it. For the map and SP. If i get competent or better at MP maybe then Ill stick to planes. For example if by the time the P38s out and on sale Im good enough that I dont rlly play SP anymore (once youre able to fly MP missions successfully and if you can get kills etc in MP its fun.if you never even get kills... It can be less so. Of course its a learning process. But every game Ive had once I became a competent MP player SP wasnt the same.)

if you like all airplanes from bobp for example, then its good to get bobp while its still on preorder as youll save your self 10$, as it will be atleast 2 years untill you get any sale discounts for BoBp from how things were going with previous relises.

So geting bobp on price its now is best buy for some time ?

BOBP now is a must have, still early access and it has really great planes already, I love them all but the FW-190 D9 is really really a master piece, great performing plane.

 

BOK is also a must have in my opinion, great huge and lovely map with nice graphics, I love the ocean, lakes and the mountains in the south.

 

To be honest, I love everything what Jason and his Team brings to us, so I decided to buy everything in premium ( also all collector planes ), which I did.....main reason is the love to the IL-2 simulation and second reason to support the Dev Team, which does a great Job!

I also bought the Flying Circus module to support the Devs, even I am not the biggest fan of WWI planes, my cup of tea is definitly WWII era.

I only skipped the TANK CREW till now because I am more an aviator than a tank guy ?

I just want to animate you to buy more IL-2 content, it is worth every Dollar. And YES the LA5FN is a great russian fighter, just sad that it has not much ammo loaded, with the the LA5´s you really need to be close to your enemy and every burst must be a hit, otherwise you are out of ammo and the opponent is still flying.

also spitfirejoe, I completely agree about supporting the devs... this is the only game in my entire life that I have truly felt good about supporting, especially since it's a small market.  I appreciate the fact that when I make my purchases directly from their site, 100% of my money goes straight to them with no middle men involved.

Both have same gun and ammo count:

"2 x 20mm gun "SsVAK", 170 rounds, 800 rounds per minute, synchronized"

also on both you can have modification where you can select to use either only AP or only HE ammo

Best Yak for sure. Flies like a dream and I don't mind the low ammo. You end up flying it like a sniper rifle and going for head shots. One of my favorites in the game.

The La-5FN is brilliant but I do have to say, like the others, that the Yak-1B Series 127 is also incredible. I have a preference for the Yak-1B over most other Soviet aircraft.
