I am having problems with my Oculus and Flying Circus. The re-centering spot seems to be about 10 degrees above the optimal head position to use gun sites. Even if I physically lower my head to use the site, FC keeps drifting up infuriatingly. Is there a setting I need to turn off to make this work properly? I read something about adjusting the head position outside of VR and that will fix it in VR? I'm not quite sure how to do that, so I haven't tried to yet. Thanks in advance for any help.

ps. Also, does anyone have a link to a settings fix that will keep the images from splitting and stuttering and tearing in VR? I have an R5 2600 and an RX 580 8 gig.

To correctly put yourself behind the gun sight in VR you need to make adjustments to your seat position while in 2D. Select you plane and start a Quick Mission. Using the Insert, Home, Page up, Page down, End and Delete keys will move you left, right, closer etc to the sight. When you are happy with the setting press F10 and it will be saved as your new default (VR return). You may need to go from 2D to VR and back a couple times to get it right.

To get you started place the center of the sight to the left or right (depending on your dominate eye) edge of the glass in 2D. Press F10 then switch to VR and check your view. You need to do this for every plane you own but once the first one is dialed in the others fall in line.

As for the stuttering in VR you may find this helpful.

You don't need to do that in 2D. While in VR you can move your head to position the view where you want it and press F10. Then sit comfortably in your chair and press the VR center view key (can't remember what it's called, maybe numpad 5 by default).

I have both of these bound to buttons on my joystick so I can correct errors on the fly.

The problem with this, is as soon as I move my head in any direction, it begins to slide back to its starting point. And my problem isn't being too far forward back left or right of the gun site, it's being too high above the gun site.

I see what you did there. ?

Sorry, I should have been more specific. The stutterer on talking about is when I'm looking at other planes or at the Gun Site the images split. I don't know if this is an ASW problem or some setting in Steam VR?

When I do that the entire cockpit floats around with my head movement. After doing as you suggest I had to reinstall IL2 to correct the problem.

Glad it works for you but it screwed up my system.

Weird, I've never had that problem. I do get strange movement when paused but once I unpause it's fine. Maybe it was a bug which has since been fixed.

First of all, thank you guys so much. Going out 2 flat screen and adjusting seat placement worked like a gym. Second of all, the floating around head thing, that's related to a setting that prevents VR users from moving their heads outside of the cockpit. Once you get your initial head placement correct, this isn't something you have to worry about. Also you can turn it off, but that will invalidate you for certain hardcore multiplayer servers.

Thanks again guys, worked like a charm. Now I just have to optimize the game to work with my ryzen 2600 and RX 580 8G. During dog fights, other planes planes keep splitting in two and it's extremely disorienting.

Yeah that's going to be a pretty much unavoidable issue with that hardware.

Also just move your head where you want it in VR and hit f10 no need to go into 2d.

What should I upgrade? And what would be the least expensive option to fix that kind of "airplane splitting?" It's immersion-breaking and headachey, but I don't have a ton of disposable income.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but pretty much all of it. The ryzen 2600 just isn't up to snuff in the single core speed department, and the 580 is way underpowered to run this game at any reasonable framerates. What are your current settings at?

Try the balanced preset, and everything else on low settings. If it's still running terribly try low, and then after that take the computer out and shoot it. Or better yet, take a copy of the game burn it to a cd and shoot that instead.

My settings are med/low.

So, what is the least expensive GPU to upgrade to in order to eliminate this splitting?

I don't want to give you an estimate then have you go spend 300 dollar and end up disappointed. But the 1070ti or 1080 would be your best and cheapest bet, since the 580 is basically equal to a 1060, anything below a 1070 you will not see any performance improvement.

What headset are you using and what steamvr resolution settings are you using.
