ParaB Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Do we have any information about how the radio system will work in the final version? I'd love to see an option to use a menu-style radio system via joystick commands. E.g. one button to open/close the radio menu, two to scroll through the messages and one to select one. Add the option to use a TAB-1...9 "IL2 style" menu and everybody should be happy. 2

ParaB Posted February 24, 2014 Author Posted February 24, 2014 There are many commands buttons in the control setting panel so I think it is the way it shall be. Currenlty every command is mapped to a different key, which isn't very intuitive. Also the "communication" is still rather basic, which was OK for RoF's WW1 setting but we definitely need some more detailed wingman, flight and squadron commands.
lennycutler Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 One alternative is a system similiar to DCS Comms Menu...which appears on the screen in text format....but the DCS default comms menu is not mouse clickable.....BOS could implement a similiar approach as DCS but make it mouse clickable. For example; "Flight attack ground targets with Rockets" could be one command - or "Flight Engage Bandits" or Wingman Engage Bandits" etc. This saves the need to map specific commands to a Hotas or have specific commands with unique key presses.
Georgio Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Go the whole hog and make it selectable voice command, so hold down a listen (tx) key and say, " wingman cover me" or whatever, he conforms he/she understood and on you go. Would be a first as an embedded program for a flight sim; I used to use 'game commander' many, many years ago and it worked very well for comms. i think windows as all the software in place, it just needs hooking up to a region/language and you're set. Mos people have headsets with mics, or at least mics somewhere on their rigs for their 'special' time, so making use of a good resource I say and would add to the immersion in a big way.
FuriousMeow Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Wasn't this topic already posted and I responded that in RoF it uses the windows key rather than the tab key but the functionality is exactly the same? So based on how the RoF system is that's the system I would expect it to be based on, not the individual commands currently present.
Wandalen Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 It could be done like this, that vould be amazing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dXblLR8Kuk#t=180
