Barnacles Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 I was shot whilst flying a p47 and got the message "turbosupercharger damaged"! I've been flying the plane regularly since it came out and this is the first time it's happened. 1. Have I just been very lucky/unlucky to see this only once so far? 2. Was this implemented from the start or was it added in a recent patch? 3. Bravo for the realism of the simulation, Developers.
CountZero Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 its in game since P-47 got relised, happend to me few times on berloga 1
Legioneod Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 (edited) Very rare, I've only had it happen on one or two occasions. Engine damage is much more common, Turbo seems to be made out of stalinium while the engine is made out of glass. Edited March 28, 2019 by Legioneod
Barnacles Posted March 28, 2019 Author Posted March 28, 2019 Yes, the thing takes up so much room in the airframe I assumed that specific damage to that component wasn't modelled. It's not that I never get hit.

It's not that I never get hit. They might only consider it damaged when the turbo itself is hit and not all the duct work. The turbo itself is rather small, could be why turbo damage is so rare in-game. Edited March 28, 2019 by Legioneod 3
Bremspropeller Posted March 28, 2019 Posted March 28, 2019 (edited) Had it happen today on misson #2 of "Achtung Jabos!" Had to fly the mission three times due to my unnatural affection with trees... Edited March 28, 2019 by Bremspropeller

I've been shot up without my turbo being damaged, yet it didn't seem to have any performance loss due to ductwork damage. Is the ductwork even modeled or even able to be damaged? Ah, stalinium..... a bullet to the supercharger is a tragedy, whilst 1000000 bullets is mere statistic. 1

I can survive without the turbo but I can't survive without the engine. Turbo damage is very rare in-game so I really don't concern myself with it. It would be cool to see more complex damage model though like Turbo daming, pulsation, loss of performance due to ductwork damage, etc.

I've insisted on more damage types everytime the subject has arisen, just to voice the matter more often. Even random mechanical failures. The new superchargers we got with the P47 just seems like a thing SOOOO PRONE to being damaged and breaking by itself..... but it seems that would be an unpopular request.
