Adjust fuel mixture nag

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to have this improved so it tells you which way it wants the mixture adjusted? It is a bit annoying when you've done the best you can and the message still keeps appearing.

Just turn off the tech chat tips! ?

I'm sorry, I know I'm not helping...

At least the message is shown only on models where it makes sense...  But I am with the OP... It could well be something like - lean / enrich the mixture...

Don't need the techno chat stuff... as stated, just watch the tacho when you adjust mixture, you will easily find your optimum setting for that altitude  :)

You get some nice fuel mixture instruments for the early PE-2.

You don't need to worry with most of the LW birds. Thanks to those Germans and their very clever engineering ;)

The US birds are not an issue either, just set the mix lever or levers in the "Auto Rich" section of the quadrant and you are good to go.

I think you have to watch the tach AND the manifold pressure/boost with a constant speed propeller. The propeller governor will keep the RPM from dropping even as power drops from a too-lean mixture by adjusting the angle of the propeller blades. I watch both, as soon as one drops (sometimes it only drops for a second and then the governor 'picks up') then I enrich the mixture a touch above the power- drop off point. I use that as my cruise setting. For max power I lean the mixture until I don't see any black smoke trailing behind me.

That's in planes with fully manual mixture - with American planes as BlitzPig says just set it to the Auto Rich or Auto lean positions you want and call it a day.
