CanadaOne Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 G'day. I'm sure I was able to just pop some rocket arty on the ground, no MCUs, and have them fire away as long as it was linked object or whatever and there were enemy nearby. But I can't seem to make it happen anymore. I can get most arty to fire, no MCUs, but not the rocket arty. Tried different targets and distances, but once the mission starts, the arty racks lower and the thing just sits there. If anyone can help, thanks.
Sketch Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 (edited) I would try an attack area MCU with high priority and 999 timer. Make sure the distance is far enough away too. I think it's 10k? I forget the exact distance of rocket trucks. When you use an attack area MCU, check the facing of your rocket trucks compared to the the attack area MCU. They should be facing the direction they're attacking. Let me know how it goes. If it's still not working, I recommend uploading your group to this thread so we can take a peak at it. CanadaOne Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 Thank you for that. You da man! I'll try. But I'm sure last time I just dumped the rocket arty on the ground, made it a linked object, and it fired. I want some dust kicked up to help create the scene.
Leon_Portier Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 You can also try to put the AttackArea MCU at a kilometer height. As far as I know the Artillery needs line of sight to the MCU. 2
CanadaOne Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 Yeah, Sketch had it right. Set the MCU as suggested and... "Boom!" Maybe I was having a brain fart and thought a QMB with the rocket arty firing was something I put together. Tanks and small arty will fire with no MCUs as long as they are at least linked objects and you point them in the right direction, but the larger arty and rockets seem to need MCUs. Far as I can tell anyway. Thanks for the help. 1

I could have been barking up the wrong tree. I had a similar problem as Canada a long time ago though, got the advice to put the MCU at height and it solved the problem. Since then I did just put them up there and accepted as truth.
Gambit21 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 Yeah - I think the German rockets behave differently and require that. I never have gotten the German ones to fire.

I never have gotten the German ones to fire. I set it up for a German SDkfz rocket arty to fire, and nothing, whether it was chosen German or Russian country. Switched it to a Russian GAZ rocket arty and it fired right away. You can't get the German rockets to fire at all?
Gambit21 Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 I tried for about 30 minutes one day a year ago, then gave up and moved on. The Russian rockets will fire all by themselves with no attack logic at all. Weird.

I can make most artillery fire without an MCU, but I think some of the big guns need an MCU. The smaller arty and all the tanks and AA seem to fire as long as they are given a country, but no MCU needed. Look at us talking tech. Break out the booze!
