DSR_A-24 Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 I'd phone America and get my country some P-47Ns ;). Fly faster, further and carry more.

The problem is the engines were available modified for 11 lbs boost from around September 1944 onwards, but it looks like we won't get 11lbs boost (hope I am wrong though). Our in-game Spit IX engine and guns are from earlier 1944. So I get your point. Happy landings, Talisman in the video posted in the Dev diary, you can see that the Tempest appears to be pulling 11 lbs boost around halfway through the video. Why they don't just come out and say it I don't know...maybe its different engine mods still being tested?
Sublime Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Were P47Ns that huge a deal over D models? If so why did the USAAF then USAF ditch them pdq?
BlitzPig_EL Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 For the same reason they ditched the P38, too expensive to maintain, too complicated mechanically, and the P51 was able enough and less expensive to purchase and maintain.

The N greatly extended the range of the P-47, thus allowing it to reach the Japanese home islands from the Marianas as an escort for the B-29s. Edited August 31, 2019 by LukeFF

Not sure what you see, but I see +9lbs (maybe slightly above that) @3700-3750RPM: Mike

Plus, there was a pretty slick, tan California girl holding the line. Her name was Lulu Belle.

Thanks. That was the only difference a cursory look could find was they were designed for the PTO
JtD Posted August 31, 2019 Posted August 31, 2019 http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/p-47/p-47-differences.jpg The C series engine of the N is also important. It gave an extra 200hp, and in the long run would have had more development potential than the B series engines used on the D.
