Salutations,

I will be putting in a LOT of hours into this mission. I try to create quality and challenging missions that are also fun. To approximate this takes time. Not only time to put together the basic mission but the time required to 'play test' everything in the mission to ensure it plays out as intended.

I promise to get the mission onto the battlefield as quickly as possible but remember, quality takes time. :salute:

Really looking forward to seeing and playing another one of your outstanding missions! Thank You!

Cool! I will definitely be playing this once you have it done. Thank you!

And today 90% done ?

Posted

Nearly. I put a few hours into it yesterday.

I'm working on the final stages of the assault on Zarbovka. I want it tough but not overwhelming.  Still tweaking.

I have to add a couple AI air flights too. I still haven't added any voiceover files.

I do them last because one can't increase the speed of play for play testing after such an audio file plays. :coffee:

☹️ Sorry. Not yet. Working on final details. Perhaps tomorrow sometime.

Sometimes it sucks to be a perfectionist type. Things are seldom as good as desired.

I vote for perfect.  I would dislike finding a glitch or inaccuracy in the middle of play.

Please consider this a alpha version. There are still some things I desired to do with it but one has to let go sooner or later.

You shall be commanding the Southern Battle Group, shown above, to take Zarbovka.

Please report any problems with the mission.

Please report if you find the mission too hard or too easy. (I can change that ?)

There are actually two battles taking place during this mission. I trust it won't tax your computer systems too much.

Place the included Mission Files and the Audio folder in your games Missions folder. Good luck

Downloaded and played the mission.  Many thanks!!  I especially enjoyed the multi-layered defense approaching the river.  As I have told you before, I appreciate that there are people such as yourself who create and share these pieces of magnificence.

Downloaded and driven...Terrific !!! One of the best tank missions so far.Of course I'm saying that because I got over the bridge & through the town leaving 5 Soviet tanks in my wake..Loved it!

No...but that Tiger is damn strong and has a very big gun!

Many tanks for the sheer number of vehicles involved & the Stuka(s?) circling overhead!

No, I would not say it was too easy.  I applied several of the strategies and maneuvers I learned playing other tank missions.  Had I not had that practice and experience I would have certainly ended up dead.

Thanks. Any suggestions about how to make it even more challenging?

Yes, the Tiger is very tough. One on one the German tanks (overall) are simply outclassed at this time. I have to be creative in any attempt to even things up a bit.

I have the mission set up to have a 50% random air support flight. Either 2 109 G2  or a single Stuka. I can be different each time played. I may do the same for the Russian air side in any update.

If you can do it, add a few gun emplacements on the far side of the bridge with the capability to blow it.  Eliminating the emplacements prior to crossing the bridge should be a must.  Also, a time element would be interesting.  Say X minutes upon the attacking unit reaching the bridge.

That sounds interesting. Implementing it might a fun challenge.

Just played it. I think it would be a good idea to replace the BTs with T-34s, to make it a bit more of a challenge and to add some more historical authenticity - it would be pretty unlikely for the Germans to be encountering BTs on the Eastern Front in Autumn 1943.

For the same reasons of challenge + authenticity, I’d also recommend getting rid of the short-barrelled StuGs and Pz. IVs.

Those things aside, great mission, can’t wait to see more from you :salute:

Thanks for the comments.

It is a non historical set piece battle. It's hard to have a balanced battle with the currently available tanks.

The problem I observe is that the T-34s and heavier are just too powerful for the current German tanks... aside from the Tiger that is. More T-34s wouldn't be amiss though.

The picture reminds me of "Otto Carius: Doromamire no Tora".

It's a snippet of "Tiger im Schlamm" or "Tigers in the mud", but magazised.

I will try the mission today or tomorrow.

I like it easy Thad, hahahahahahaha.

I just kept going, picking off targets when able and using cover quite a bit.

Good fun thank you buddy. You obviously put a lot of work into it.

If you fancy updating it, perhaps some Soviet anti tank artillery would be good  covering the river crossings.

Thanks again.
