Bringing up the map

I can't get the map up by hitting "M", by hitting "O" I'll get it and the mission briefing but then covering the whole screen.

Any ideas?

I think "o" is all you got, unless the server allows it, or something like that. 

 

I have been in servers where I hit "o" and a minimap does pop up like RoF.

Just noticed it'll come up in quick mission when hitting "M" so it must be server controlled I guess.

There's a combination of stuff involved. I think HUD has to be on and I also believe Instrument panel needs to be on. I never remember the combinations.

As of 3.021, it seems that 'Instrument Panel' has to be checked in the 'Custom Setup' menu in the briefing screen, while both 'HUD' and 'Instrument Panel' have to be unchecked in the 'Basic Options' menu that comes up when you hit Escape while in-cockpit.
