Idiot Dolphin Firing Question

Despite being lined-up with the iron sights, my tracer seems always to be dropping about 10 degrees below. Maybe I am missing something obvious here, but this is the only a/c where this seems to happen.

 

Any suggestions?

Is the ball in the center of the ring ?  When I say center, I mean center.  I don’t know what you use to look around in the sim but if TrackIR, or some such, you may find that your sight line is fractionally high (?) and it would be worth lowering it a tad (or raising it if I ‘be got it the wrong way around).  Flying in VR, with no fixed head position (it can move around, as in real life, with no null or dead zone) really emphasise the importance of getting the ball in the CENTER of the ring for accurate shooting.  It might be that the ball, of the ball and ring sight is closer to the pilot, or the ball and ring are closer together,  in the Dolphin thus making any fault in accurate sighting worse.

Yeah, it is puzzling me. I fly with a Rift but this is the only crate where I find that this occurs.

It’s quite instructive to see the variation of bullet path even when the ball is still within the central ring but off center, but for the very effective tracer rounds we could think we’re shooting accurately but actually be firing all over the shop.  While tracer is probably the best indicator of shooting accuracy within the game the ring and bead sight really does emphasise the difference between VR and everything else, other sighting mechanics being a bit wasted on the general rabble but showing their real merit for VR pilots.  It certainly helps to make clear why long range shooting is either a matter of luck or great skill.
