Hey that looks kinda neato!

Do you have to watch out for Indiana Jones trying to hitch a ride?

I wonder if it is playable in VR.

I wonder if the toilet failures will be included?

This could be great or it could be a micromanagement nightmare. Let's wait and see.

I´m both exited and scared about the new game!

Looks good. I've been waiting for a potato stowage game for years. Hope there will be a fresh potato mod.

Yes, I've been watching this with interest for months now...

What no Band playing when leaving port?

Are they even going to release it this year, i've had my eye on this game for ages. Looks promising, I was a big fan of Silent hunter 3.

I’m glad there will be a willing focus on gameplay from the start.

I bet you guys missed the gem that came in early access on steam yesterday.

That is a proper sim, playable in co op with friend and I believe it is VR compatible.

Funny, you can bring along Swiss luggage pieces.

Containing an ACME survival kit for shore leave in neutral countries?

Or is it that our American friends really think that is how a medi kit would be labeled in Germany?

But looking good.

You're not anything - stop it.

Go get a job then call yourself an engineer.

Hi guys. If i want to start with sub simming which game would you recommend to start with?

I'd say Silent Hunter 3 if you're into depth of gameplay.  Go for SH5 if you are more swayed by eye candy.

I"d need a 688 Los Angeles class sim to really get my juices flowing, and then I'd want the option to more or less be the commander.

I don't want to micro-manage every station.

Personally I'd go for Silent Hunter 4 because of the American boats and because it's in the Pacific.

American boats had a far greater impact on the war then German boats did, and actually contributed alot to the defeat if Japan.

That would be pretty sweet. Being apart of a Hunter Killer crew during the Cold War would be very interesting and tense.

Being a Submariner is one of the rates I'm most interested in if and when I ever join the military.

Hi guys thanks for the input. Help me a bit more please.

I am more into the u boat (german) side and a bit less depth (micro management ?) plus eye candy so SH5 seems to be the one from the recommendations.

Apparently you have to mod it (wolves of steel).

Also is it compatible with Windows 10?

Because I was an early backer, I have had early access to uboat. I think it looks very promising.

Yes it works just fine on windows 10. Definitely get the wolves of steel mod.

This actually has my interest. U-Boat, that is. I'd prefer hunting Japanese ships across the broad stretches of the Pacific in a Gato class submarine. But, this does look good. As far as the micromanagement, I wouldn't be surprised if you can adjust the levels of that.

I'm not sure if you guys are aware but there is a CO-OP Uboat sim being produced by a small Swedish team and published/backed by the good ol boys over at Subsim dot com.

It is simply called "Wolfpack" - it's first person only, 5 players per Uboat, featuring a clickable interior (think clickable cockpit) . So unlike Silent Hunter series you can't just press one key to Dive or Crash Dive. Everyone has to do the appropriate steps. Examples here.

I'm insanely tight on money so I can't even drop 30 bucks on it. I take that back. I have 2 gallons of change. Who measures change in gallons? I do.

You can find it on Steam. There is also obviously a Subsim thread devoted to it.

And here is a video I found that just gets into it. (multiplayer footage I found seemed like a lot of dick-ing around)

Hi guys got silent hunter 5. Does not work on my windows 10. Runs an intro movie type clip in top lefthand corner of screen and then crashes. Amybody know this and can point to a quickfix. I installed it on my windows 7 machine and no probs there. I thimk i am going to like it. Brings a nice 3rd option to my simming...il2 aircraft and tanks...now subs.

Found it!

, so I think I may have fixed it. after much tinkering and install/reinstall, i've figured out that for me, the SH5 EXE needs to be run in Admin, Win7 compatibility, AND "disable display scaling on high DPI settings" needs to be checked ON. hopefully this fixes my problems from here on. I've never had to use this setting before, but this monitor I am on now, I don't believe I've ever played SH5 on it and it is a 1440p monitor
