They seem to be claiming it can function as a 4-axis 'joystick':

Quote

The 3dRudder is a foot controller that can turn into a 3- or 4-axes foot joystick. Rest your feet on the 3dRudder and trigger each axis by simpling tilting the device, twisting your feet or pressing your feet. Customize deadzone and acceleration for a enhanced gaming experience in games such as Star Citizen, DCS, Elite Dangerous, Final Approach 2…

I can see how 3-axis control could work, but if the 4th axis is controlled by downward force ('pressing your feet') it isn't going to be very accurate. Still, it might be useful for someone with a disability that prevents them using a conventional joystick.

OMG I’d be flying all over the place - as in uncontrollable. I’m so used to stationary rudder peddles. Reminds me of trying to use a twist stick. So far as turning around or whatever that’s where VR is soooo nice. You look, you go. Instantaneous.

Still better than using my Left and Right mouse buttons

II remember that time I tried to bind the brakes, accellerator and starting controls to my rudder pedals, for the jeeps in Battlefield 1942.

It probably would have worked too, eventually...

Actually, I think if I ever start playing merch games again, I may take another go at it, if I don't do the dual stick thing. And now I'm all nostalgic for Starsiege again...
