SYN_Luftwaffles Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 Just got it going last night. I left it plugged in, and the headset was already warm when I picked it up to put on earlier today. Are you supposed to unplug it (the usb) when not in use, or is there a tray tool or something to shut it off when not in use? Thanks!

SYN_Luftwaffles Posted March 10, 2019 Author Posted March 10, 2019 First time in IL2 VR. I wear glasses, so I just had to install KlearKare watch protectors on the lenses. It's reaaaaallllly nice, though. As a side note: In retrospect, I giggle at all of the "Can I run it at 90 fps?" posts. My monitor for the past umpteen years has been 60 hz. So I don't even notice a drop in fps unless it goes below 60 ?
Dutch2 Posted March 10, 2019 Posted March 10, 2019 (edited) What KlearKare watch protectors did you use? BTW I have to unplug always, otherwise my monitor is not detected when starting my system. Edited March 10, 2019 by Dutch2

Comparing the monitor and headset refresh rate is like comparing apples and oranges, the headset needs a 90fps rate to give you a smooth and stutter free experience. Visual artifacts can occur, it's all difficult to deal with in the middle of a dog fight. Also the headset uses a sleep mode no need to unplug it. Edited March 10, 2019 by JonRedcorn
JonRedcorn Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Just wanted to add, give the balanced preset a shot, you can pretty much run everything else jacked up, the clouds will look slightly worse but the frame rates are so worth it, can also run the headset balls out at 200% SS and not really run into any frame drops. This works on my setup, was extremely pleased with the results last night.

Could you please specify which model are you using, or at least the diammeter to look for something simlar for my lenovo explorer? Thanks in advance
SYN_Luftwaffles Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 I bought the KlearKare 49mm watch face protectors off of Amazon in the US. It's these: https://www.amazon.com/KlearKare-Invisible-Protector-Military-Protection/dp/B00BUJ35MK You have to cut one side of the protector to match the oval shape of the lens. As a side note, I removed mine last night and am awaiting a new pair of protectors. There were a lot of bubbles in the screen protectors left over from my appliation. It's hard to get in there and install them (it also uses liquid for the installation, so I'm leery of using a lot), but I'm guessing if take your time and be sure all of the bubbles are gone that they will work fine. Dumb question, but how do you turn up supersampling on the Odyssey? I've seen the oculus tray tool mentioned for the rift, but I haven't seen anything like that for the Odyssey. Thanks!

Steamvr if you are playing il2. Go into the settings and you'll see the video tab or applications tab. Edited March 12, 2019 by JonRedcorn
SYN_Luftwaffles Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 Also, another dumb question.... How do I recenter everything in the cockpit if my VR headset is off center or something? Is there a button combination? Thank you again!

Both VR recenter and VR Zoom are in the controller setup menu, can't recall exactly it is under either Pilot Head or Camera control menu. You will know it when you see it.
