JohnHolmes Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 (edited) Hi All Im an architect and Im getting more and more clients asking for a VR experience. Ive been holding out on getting a VR unit until I upgrade my laptop (1.5 yrs to go) and hopefully by then the next gen VR headset will be on the market. So Im looking for a cheap alternative in between time. My computer spec's are on the low side to run Il2 with good FPS but the main goal is to have a unit to show clients around their developments, on the plus side I would like to use it for IL2 : Alienware17 R4 i7-780HK Clockspeed: 2.9 GHz Turbo Speed: 3.9 GHz GTX 1080 RAM 16gb What Im looking at in my local market: HP WMR - $240 USD (Second Hand) "Pro's it is portable which would be great for work" ACER WMR - $305 USD (Second hand) "Pro's it is portable which would be great for work" Oculus Rift - $290 USD (Second hand) Oculas Rift - $390 USD (New) Samsung Oydessy - $450ish (New) would have to import from the US as there are no sales in NZ, "Pro's it is portable which would be great for work" Any advice would be welcomed Edited March 9, 2019 by JohnHolmes added info
SharpeXB Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 (edited) I am an architect as well. S! We use the Oculus Rift. I haven’t been able to compare it with a lot of others but from what I gather it’s the most comfortable headset. It’s controllers are great too. Comfort would be a big plus having clients wear it. As for the hardware running it, we have some strong gaming laptops but I’m not sure of their specs. Edited March 9, 2019 by SharpeXB 1
JonRedcorn Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 Would probably just grab one of the cheaper WMR headsets, the acer or lenovo, both cheap with nice screens at a higher resolution than the oculus rift. Stay away from the oculus or vive. They have first gen screens with terrible resolution. 1
