6./ZG26_Loke Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 I find it almost impossible to fight in the SPAD, as the view from it is so limited. I don't recall it being that bad (limited) in RoF. Like to hear other peoples opinion on this. 1

It was bad and it is still bad, but i was surprised how effective im now with this plane after many hours of practice with boom and zoom Fw190A. The speed of the Spad is awesome. 1
6./ZG26_Loke Posted March 6, 2019 Author Posted March 6, 2019 In RoF I did okay in it, but in FC? I suck big time, keep loosing the enemy plane of my sight. Like he know when he is out of my sight, he turn one or the other way. Ah well, just gonna stick with the Camel or the new beatifull Dolphin when flying for the Allies.
Brano Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Since original Sierra Red Baron game I prefered Nieuports to SPADs. I still kept my personal Ni-24/27 till the armistice in RB2. Charles Nungesser was my big hero ? 1
US103_Baer Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 (edited) Nothing repays time spent in-cockpit like the Spad. Cockpit view and SA become second nature quickly, so don't let it put you off. The plane is an air superiority beast like no other in WW1. Attack steeply from above with as much speed as you can. The Huns won't know what hit them. However one thing HAS changed in FC - the Spad has lost its zoom. All the planes released to date seem to have lost energy retention, probably a result of the new game engine. But it particularly impacts the Spad because zoom and extension speed are critical to it's main attack tactics. Still, FC is a WIP so more FM revisions could happen and possibly it'll only take tweaking some tactics for Spads to continue ruling the skies Edited March 6, 2019 by US103_Baer 2
No.23_Starling Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 I noticed the zoom change too. The energy retention is not what it was, however my opponents have a similar issue so as long as I keep above them you still have the advantage. The SE5 kept energy very well in RoF so I’d be interested to see how it performs upon release 1
No.23_Triggers Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Yup - very much excited for the S.E, Baer and I expect it'll be an absolute beast in FC... 1
6./ZG26_Loke Posted March 7, 2019 Author Posted March 7, 2019 Looking forward to the S. E. 5 too, was one of my favorits in RoF. And wtih the Dolphin is preforming so well in FC, there are good Hopes for the S. E. 5.

No.23_Gaylion Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 As a newbie spad pilot myself, you really gotta move around both with your head and the kite to see stuff. You can't just fly straight and level. You gotta work extra hard and also stay away from the more open cockpits while learning the spad. I notice when I swap planes a bunch, the spad view gets claustrophobic to me again.
blitze Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I couldn't hold off and decided to try out the Allied planes in QMB. I found with the SPAD I had to look 45degfrees down when centering my VR headset or I would be presented with a cockpit view to that of how a midget felt in the cockpit of that plane. Looking down and centering I was able to then use the sight and also see behind me. Was fun - completely different to WW2 planes and gunnery - well if you don't go for engine or pilot, forget it. Should be a hoot when finally released. BTW, AI didn't put up much of a fight but they did try a variety of evasive maneuvers.
