It appears that the FC Dolphin shares the same penchant for leaving its wings behind that reduced its popularity in RoF.  I can't be bothered to delve into the RoF forums to find out what the consensus was as to why it was felt the wings should be so prone to becoming unattached.  Maybe its just a speed and loading factor although I would have assumed the same would have applyed to the Spad 13, if not more so.

  • Nasty near-unrecoverable flatspin

  • Wings come off with full elevator deflection above 220km/h*

  • Pilot dies if you flip her

...the Flipper is almost back, baby!

??????????????????

(*) For the Camel this already happens at 200km/h, though for the SPAD only above 280km/h. Pflaz is still king with its 290km/h (if you can manage to dive that fast).

Put about two hours flying combat (with D.VII) and have failed to lose my wings so far. No flat spins. Like the Dolphin here better than RoF.

I love her too. Her armament is fantastic, she's fast enough for anything Central and if you don't do anything crazy, you will likely never spin her or come close to pulling her wings off.

Definitely my favourite Entente plane so far.

You know just for a moment I was tempted to buy the module just to demonstrate how it's done.

A salutary reminder that even the sanest of us can have the odd episode now and then. Phew!

  • Come back on the throttle
  • Give rudder against the spin correction: give rudder into/with the spin
  • only push the stick forward when the spin reaches its slowing momentum, its nose rising slightly and just before it dips again

and you should straighten her out ready to pull up and give throttle again )))

Thanks! I've given it a go, but I wasn't able to recover using that technique (starting from around 6000ft and waited around 1000ft).

Oddly enough what works is the exact thing you wrote but with rudder into the spin. I haven't flown the Dolphin in RoF in a long time, but I reckon it is somewhat similar there.
