Minipily Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 (edited) There seems to be a bug where when you bail out and successfully open the parachute, if you go into a wooded area or go near any tree on the map, the parachute decides to get destroyed and fold up which makes you fall to your death. Realistically speaking, the parachute should snarl up in the trees and make the pilot hang there. If the parachute is to disconnect, falling 5-10 meters shouldn't kill the pilot. I believe a fix to the pilot damage model for these kind of falls and a fix to the parachute would assist in the realism. Additionally, landing in water in the parachute instantly kills the pilot. Previous titles have given the pilot a raft or an inflatable life vest, I think the pilots just dying instantly in the water is pretty out of place. Of course, this is not a priority but still a clear bug none the less. Edited March 3, 2019 by Minipily 1
Enceladus828 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 (edited) Totally dude! Falling 5-10 meters would likely cause an injury, but NOT cause death. With water, yeah. This should have totally been fixed with BOK. Before the Kuban map was released the maps in the game (Stalingrad, Moscow, Lapino, etc.) had only rivers, lakes, so it wouldn't be that necessary. Now that we have the Kuban map that contains the Eastern portion of the Black Sea, and has ships. It should have been a must by Patch 3.002 to fix that error. BTW, the Crimean area is a warm place than other places in Russia, that's why the Russian Monarchy fought so hard to keep it. I have asked this question before and the response was that the chances of being rescued are slim. Okay, but although not in the game yet, there was the Ju-52 seaplane and MBR-2 that were available and could have rescued the pilot. With the Pacific it would also be the PBY Catalina and H8K. Ships also could have rescued the pilot. In that Yak-7 mission were you defend a task force of Russian destroyers from Stukas. If you got shot down near the destroyers and a report was sent to the destroyers that a Yak-7 pilot(s) had bailed out, or watchmen on the ships saw a parachute, they could rescue you. They're not sitting ducks by subs because they had Sonar and depth charges and would likely search for the pilot(s) once the enemy threat was gone. They also have AA guns. I'm a real world pilot and BY-LAW if you're flying a light single engine aircraft over water and the nearest land is far from the gliding distance then carrying lifejackets is MANDATORY. Example, flying across the English Channel. I'm certain that if a pilot was going out to intercept aircraft over the Black Sea or attack ships, then he'd bee given a lifejacket. For me, I enjoy attacking ships. What I strongly dislike is that the Bodenplatte pilots wear lifejackets, and yet still when you parachute into the sea they still sink and die. What's up with that?! In IL-2 Cliffs of Dover whenever you bail over the sea the pilot (who wears a lifejacket) will release himself from the harness a few meters above the sea and most of the times surfaces. Can we implement that into IL-2 Great Battles pretty please? Or at the very least can it be that the pilot floats after landing in the water and has an X% chance of being rescued when parachuting into the water? What about landing in shallow water by the shore on the Kuban map. I wonder if the devs are going to continue not fixing this and when the Pacific Theater is given the go and the Battle of Midway (Likely also Wake Island) then pilots will still be dying when entering the water and the only safe areas are the Aircraft Carriers, Midway Atoll, and Wake Island. A question is that this hasn't happened before in IL-2 1946 and IL-2 Cliffs of Dover, even when they were first released. So why are we seeing this problem in IL-2 Great Battles, especially 2 years since the Kuban map was released. Here's an interesting video https://youtu.be/KcCVDrnItmg Cheers.
