beresford Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I have started a campaign and find it a different experience from multi-player, with realistic missions and formations. However something appears not to have changed from the previous Il-2 game. Enemy fighters robotically pursue you all the way to your home field where they are shot down by AAA. Is it possible to have them consider their own survival a little more and break off at some point?

JonRedcorn Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I had one chase me back and then break off as I got close to the airfield seemed like they fixed it? Was flying a 109 campaign.
Elem Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I'm finding that recently they have started breaking off the pursuit once you cross your own front line, which is far more realistic.

In scripted missions it can be done by using an Attack Area command and setting priority to high. When using this method AI pilots will disengage when they leave the radius of the Attack Area command.

I'm not... I had a flight of EA attack my flight. I was damaged and heading home, flat out, on the deck with an Fw A5 chasing me all the way back to my airbase.
RedKestrel Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I seem to be able to shake them if I can get out of sight quick enough. It’s better than it was in previous versions

Yep, or using the "force complete" MCU attached to a timer etc. So to the OP yes the logic exists in the sim, it's just a matter of utilizing it in the career - I'm sure this change will happen at some point. (if it hasn't in fact begun already) I can cause the enemy AC to break off and go home once you get to a certain point on the map, or when a certain number of them have been killed or damaged, etc. Edited March 3, 2019 by Gambit21
Godspeed Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Sometimes when you land on airfield when chased by enemy fighters you dont need to wait that AA shoot them down. This is because they fly to ground by themselfs next to your parked plane. Maybe its fixed now but i doubt it because it has been feature since beginning of time.
kendo Posted March 6, 2019 Posted March 6, 2019 Recently I have had them abandon the chase and turn back - even though they were in a faster aircraft than mine. Seemed to happen just after crossing the front line too. Though before I got the pursuit all the way back to base too.
