skline00 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Just installed a Radeon VII in my 2700x rig below. Extremely powerful. Not quite as fast as the gtx1080ti but close enough. Solidly built with 16g HBM2 memory. I'll keep you posted as I play with it more. 1
kestrel79 Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Cool! I've always had AMD graphics cards, so for my new built I'm considering a Rx 590 or Vega 64 for now, and then down the road a VII or the new card once those come out and more available and refined. Curious how it performs in DCS or X-Plane?
skline00 Posted February 28, 2019 Author Posted February 28, 2019 I have X Plane on my 5960x/GTX1080TI rig. I guess I could install the software on my 2700x/Radeon VII rig and let you know.
skline00 Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 Installed X Plane tonight. Smooth as silk. The Radeon VII is powerful.

I don't like power consumption in AMD Graphic Cards but i enjoy mine Vega 64 a lot. The driver's support is very nice! Edited March 1, 2019 by 3./JG15_HansPhilipp
kestrel79 Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Is VR possible on the Vega and VII? Or is it best to go NVIDIA for VR right now?
SCG_ErwinP Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 I believe that VR "need" a fast processor such as Intel I7 or Ryzen 7 2700x
kestrel79 Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Yep planning on getting a i5 9600k next month hopefully!
skline00 Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 (edited) My 5960x is OC'd to 4.4 and my 2700x has PBO(Precision Boost Overdrive) enabled and is watercooled so both cpus run very well. The respective video cards run very well on these rigs. I might hook Oculus Rift up to the R7/2700x rig to see how it works. Edited March 1, 2019 by skline00

Any results about the Radeon VII compaired to and GTX1080ti using VR in BoS?
skline00 Posted June 4, 2019 Author Posted June 4, 2019 When I get the Oculus Rift headset etc back from my grandson I'll let you know.
