ladlon Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) Hi. I'm hoping this is just something I'm doing wrong, but when using the HE111 bombsite, I sync everything up, activate the bombsite automation, and the bombsite tracks with the land, but every 2 seconds or so it stops tracking for about a second, then locks in again... over and over, with a regular rhythm. Pilot is on autopilot, flying straight and level. I BELIEVE I had the altitude and airspeed set correctly. Anyone know what might be going on there? ladlon Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 Figured it out... eventually. I think it was the AI pilot doing that (or the result of the AI pilot being on). I wasn't aware of the Autopilot system, and mistakenly was using the 'AI Control' comnmand, thinking that's what videos were referring to. Tracking is smooth and constant now. So, that's one more WTF to cross off the list...
Sokol1 Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 "Toggle AI control" is that dumb "AI autopilot" = allow the computer fly for you. For level bombing you need use the "Kursteuerung" = Course Autopilot. In Options > Controls > Aircraft > Keys set keys/buttons for: nearest open gas station from my location You have two modes, one for cruise/climb, another (Mode 22) for level flight and thus bombing. Notice that you have some control over plane when this Course Autopilot is engaged. See on page 81 of Owl's outstanding manual (he have one for each CloD plane - and for other flight games). https://www.mudspike.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Chuck-Guide-Il-2-Cliffs-of-Dover-He111.pdf A someone say: 'Another CloD idiocincrocy' is that Mode 22 is somewhat bugged, if plane are not in the correct speed (?), correct trim (?) before engage this mode, plane fly up and down like a Dolphin over sea surface. ?
ladlon Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 Yep, way ahead of you! Already mapped and using. I discovered the Autopilot (as opposed to AI Control) last night. Didn't even know it existed, until I watched this one particular video tutorial of the He111, and when he mentioned the autopilot, I did a sort of double-take and thought, 'Wait a minute, that doesn't sound like the AI Control command I'm using... He's talking about MODES and stuff, which I'm not aware of....'. I really am not sure HOW I missed all the Autopilot commands in the control mapping list... I was even actively SEARCHING for 'autopilot', but somehow missed them! Sheesh!.... I nailed a few previously confusing things last night... Finally got everything working (....except the fact that my plane didn't have BOMBS! The premade vanilla misions don't seem to let you load bombs onto your planes!) Yep, I discovered the Chuck's Guides several days ago. They are seriously excellent, and finally explained so many things. Really excellent job on those. Now, if I can actually get BOMBS happening in tonight's session, then everything will be sorted out! :D Huh... ANOTHER idiocincrocy?.... You don't say! hehehe.... Actually, I didn't run into that, thankfully. Once I discovered the whole autopilot thing, my ground tracking wasn't doing that 'track for 2 seconds, release for 1 second, trak for 2 seconds, release for 1 second' thing it was doing before. Yep, the last few days have been some (rather pleasant) AHA! moments... and my sessions with the sim just get more and more pleasant. Thanks for watching my six, once again, Sokol1!
