lost all controller axis controls after installing PS4 controller

I was trying to get one of those magic ninja fighting games (DSIII) to work and installed a DualShock 4 controller. I never got it working right and realized I don't like games, where you jump and tumble around like a cartoon ninja, to continue working on it. It left me a parting gift though. None of the axis controls on my stick, pedals, and quadrant work anymore. I have/had them mapped with a CH products control manager and all my settings look fine in the manager and in the key bindings in IL2. The buttons/switches on my stick and quadrant still work. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think what happened is that the DualShock took over the assignment as the main controller.. So IL-2 looks at device order instead of controller ID.. This means that if you plug in and unplug different USB controls, it messes up what IL-2 thinks is attached at the time.. You unfortuntely, may have to go in and reprogram all your axis and buttons that are not key mapped macros.

Really is a big negative to IL-2 when programs like DCS just recognize a unique number ID for each USB controller and looks at that number no matter what has been plugged in or rearranged.. it just always works.

One thing to help is to probably save the joystick config file and then just rename the joystick ID in the .ini, so instead of remapping it to what is now controller number 2, and doing 10 different mappings.. you could just go into the controller file in notepad and edit controller 1 to controller 2 on 10 different assignments, copy and paste.. a lot easier then having to physically move your stick all around again.

Hope that made sense.

I figured I had to re-assign all of my axis's but was hoping I was wrong. I had limits of some of them that I forgot how to do. Thanks for the reply.

In case anyone else has the same problem, I found that I had to uncheck Steam's support for controllers boxes.
