adler_1 Posted February 20, 2019 Author Posted February 20, 2019 (edited) please correct where wrong with correct letter Edited February 20, 2019 by dog1
Spuks Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 (edited) This is better resolution of picture. Use selection tool (e.g. Magic Wand Tool in Photoshop) for every leter to select and copy, and than place on your skin. Edited February 20, 2019 by Spuks
CrazyDuck Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 (edited) You got eighth letter wrong. It's not "a", it's a "d", but a different one from the one in standard Russian alphabet: Plus, you also missed the second word. You should have used the letter "B", but you used "soft symbol" instead: Oh, and one more thing! In first Word you used soft sign in place where the "yery" sign should be: Incorrect: "ОсвобожденнЬй Донбасс" Correct: "Освобожденный Донбасс" Hope all this helps. This is a tricky one, because in modern times it's supposed to be an italics representation of the ordinary letter "D" in russian alphabet. Here are the two letters (caps and lower case) "D": And here are the same two, but now in italics: Try it in Microsoft Word (Insert -> Symbol -> Cyrillic -> д) - be careful to insert the lower case and not the capital letter (they look alike!), and then switch between italics and non-italics. It doesn't work on this forum (for me), but it does in MS Word. Also, see the picture on the right side of: https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/д

Thats Yak-9T , pilot D.Tormakhov, 267.IAP, Yugoslavia, spring 1945 Yak-1B in post before has different font used in the word Донбасс. It was probably repaint+rework after change of side panel of fuselage. That small strange mirrored-like "S" inscribed into capital letter "Д" is an interesting thing. Makes no sense at first sight. But in cyrilic, written capital Д looks very much like that (like oldfashioned number 2). Maybe it was ment as double D like first and fathers name of pilot? adler_1 Posted February 21, 2019 Author Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) CRAZYDUCK your method works , here is copy done with word then copied with snagit to PNG then PS for work . this tip will be useful for future work , thanks . So SPUCKS was able to get a perfect copy due to the quality of his 9T print which is not the same as my 1 B . since we are on the subject of slogans ,what are your opinions on wether the slogans were written on every airplane of a squadron when they received a donation ? I am doing various copies sometimes a full squadron of 12 sometimes a flight of 4 and always with the slogan for all aircraft . Edited February 21, 2019 by dog1
Brano Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 In this case, only 12 Yak-9T delivered to 3.rd escadrila of 267.IAP had inscription Liberated Donbas. This regiment got several Yak-1b later in 1944 as replacements, but it is not clear from sources if all had been repainted with such slogan. There is no general rule. Some machines were unique single donations, some were in squadron size. You have to investigate case by case.

(I used this method which i mentioned and i had got good result.) To find correct fonts is difficult so i think this way is beter choise. Edited February 21, 2019 by Spuks
