Thad Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Yes, I have to agree... I really enjoyed that series.
bzc3lk Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 (edited) I like both series and to be honest, I would be hard pressed to choose. Edited February 20, 2019 by bzc3lk

Hornblower was Churchill’s preferred bedtime reading too, and I wonder sometimes how much of all those clandestine shore parties, cutting out operations and skulduggery informed Winston’s wartime taste for coastal raids and small unit actions. I recently introduced a work colleague to the Hornblower audiobooks narrated by Christian Rodska. He’s currently blazing through the entire collection without a break.
Ghost666 Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 If you like Hornblower, try the Sharpe TV series. Sharpe (TV series) Sharpe is a British television series of stories starring Sean Bean as Richard Sharpe, a fictional British soldier in the Napoleonic Wars. Sharpe is the hero of a number of novels by Bernard Cornwell; most, though not all, of the episodes are based on the books.

It's so fun.
Dogbert1953 Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Combat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat!_(TV_series) Hornblower & Sharpe are ok for a light hearted look at history. Mike.
Diggun Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 BSG. Jamie Bamber has learned to act by then. Also, Hornblower novels are ok, but a bit YA IMHO. Patrick O'Brian is where it's at for your authentic sea stories... 1
Dogbert1953 Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Douglas Reemer is pretty good as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Reeman Mike.
FTC_Woop Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 Sharpe? Just look at that V-neck!! ? 3 hours ago, NETSCAPE said: Holdfast: Nations at War Please don't play it if you value you sanity. It's full of 8 year olds and although fun at times, is not worth the brain hemorrhage that accompanies it.
