Skoshi_Tiger Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Just a quick question. Is the braced stabilizer of the Ju 87 adjustable? Cheers!
Skoshi_Tiger Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 Thanks LukeFF, I tried to google it but came up with nothing. Guess that's what's going to happen when the info is not there to find. But until BoS came out I didn't know that the 109 had it! Cheers!
Flyingpencil Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 It is interestng how the 109 has an braced and adjustable stabalizer. I cannot think of another application like that.
Skoshi_Tiger Posted February 23, 2014 Author Posted February 23, 2014 Later models 109 didn't have braced stabilizers. Did the E's have adjustable stabilizers or just trim tabs?
Flyingpencil Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 (edited) Later models 109 didn't have braced stabilizers. Did the E's have adjustable stabilizers or just trim tabs? adjustable stabilizers. To reduce drag the tail was redesigned to remove brace in F, but it had some issues. I think it was posted somewhere else in this forum... Here Edited March 2, 2014 by Flyingpencil
JtD Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Just a quick question. Is the braced stabilizer of the Ju 87 adjustable? Yes it is. It works hydraulically in connection with the extension of the flaps and trims the aircraft nose up to counter the effect of the extending flaps.
andyw248 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 Yes it is. It works hydraulically in connection with the extension of the flaps and trims the aircraft nose up to counter the effect of the extending flaps. According to the "Betriebshandbuch" for the Ju 87 B-2 (there is a link to it in some threads here, try: http://www.avia-it.c...DF/Ju-87 B2.pdf), pages 301 - 302, it has both: The hydraulically adjusted stabilizer ("Hoehenflosse") Trim tabs ("Trimmklappen") at the trailing edges of both elevators, where:Both adjusted automatically to reduce elevator forces (similar to the tabs on the ailerons of the Il-2 which you have probably noticed) The tab on the left elevator could be adjusted manually by the pilot (using the trim wheel) The tab on the right elevator would automatically be adjusted after releasing the bomb (sic!).
