FTC_Mephisto Posted February 14, 2019 Posted February 14, 2019 As many of you I remember with great fondness the virtual wars hosted with help of HypperLobby during IL-2 / IL-2 FB times. Massive team battles in either scripted or generated missions in VOW / VEF. Great times! Soaring back into the virtual skies of IL-2 BOX now it seems that the only exiting alternatives are DF-style servers, albeit with some mission background / target etc. While having 80+ pilots on wing of liberty is not bad, in my view it doesn't compare with match-style missions team vs. team in various virtual wars / coops. Now the announcement of Bodenplatte from November 2017 (inter alia) includes "New MP matchmaking system and lobby with chat": https://il2sturmovik.com/news/360/announcing-battle-bodenplatte-flying-circus-tank-c/ Now my questions: Have there been any further news on this item? Did the developers disclose anything in relation to timing and level of progress so far? Is it going to be something akin to the HypperLobby and thus would enable new wave of virtual online wars? Thanks!
NO_SQDeriku777 Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Many people have been wanting to get a preview of how Air Marshall and the new Lobby feature are shaping up. Until the details are released in an upcoming Dev Diary you are not going to see an answer to this question. That's just the way things roll here. We just have to sit back and wait.
FTC_Mephisto Posted April 29, 2019 Author Posted April 29, 2019 I read couple of posts from the devs on the Air Marshal, but did we see anything in terms of news on the new lobby / match making?
Eclipse4349 Posted September 15, 2019 Posted September 15, 2019 I have been wishing for this feature for years! The sim aspect of IL-2 is GREAT. But the the game aspect of it for multiplayer really needed this from the start. I think it would have both attracted and retained more players. Some kind of organized sorties with each team having different flights with certain objectives should have (in my opinion) been included from the start. Too much of the multiplayer workload is put on the community. By the time the community really gets good things going, too many players have tried it and given it up, many never to return. It's the same problem with other sims, like Arma and DCS. You can't just load a mutliplayer game and play like you can other games. I would much rather the team put all their effort into revamping this aspect of things rather than more planes. Or maybe there is more in the works than I know about. I've been out of the sky a while.
