HHMC.Spanky* Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 I'm still new to IL and just came across topics that mention a game launcher vs steam. I've been entirely on Steam, as have been most of my purchase; not realizing there was a difference. Are there different servers when using the game launcher vs steam? Would I need to re-purchase everything if not using Steam?
6FG_Big_Al Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 The major point is that if you buy the content of Il-2 Sturmovik through Steam, the developers will receive significantly less money than from their own website. This means that if you want to support the developer, you should rather use their own store to benefit the actual development. Jason wrote a little ibt about it: You can read it at the point Recommendation best wishes Rico
Alonzo Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 I bought the base game on Steam, but every expansion pack and plane through the developer's website. This gives me the convenience of Steam but the vast majority of my purchases benefit the developer directly. There's something like a 30% cut that Steam takes, so if at all possible, make the bulk of your purchases on the IL2 website please.
