Bad FPS and blurry in general

Hi Folks,

New guy here so hi to all.

I'm a week into my first ever pc build and of course everything else that goes along with it.

I built my pc to run vr specifically in flight sims like IL 2 and some sim racing titles.

I've been playing around with various settings in Oculus Tray Tool and then separately on steam with OTT turned off but my results are pretty dire especially in the FPS dept so I'm hoping there's someone out there who can give me some pointers.

My PC spec is as follows

Gigabyte X370 Gaming 7 mobo,

Ryzen 5 2600x cpu  (not oc'd)

G-Skill 16mb 3200 b die ram

1080ti

Oculus rift.

As an aside, for the time being I'm using my 46" HDTV for a monitor which is showing both eye views whilst I'm playing the game.

My latest attempt is the settings from this video where the guy gets a solid 90fps with a lesser graphics card than mine. I hit 89-90 with ASW turned off but as soon as another plane enters I'm down to sub 45fps for the most part.

Any help will be most appreciated and thanks in advance.

Here's the video in question.

I just did watch his video and he is not flying, unlike you, he sits at an empty airfield with nothing moving, ok only his prop. As soon as he will enter the sky and meet other planes his framerate is going to drop just like yours to 45. Perfect sample off an “always flying solid 90 guy” .

Now I also see you have an AMD CPU, that could be overflowing, check if you do not hit the max. Use your Windows CPU monitor to check this, set the monitoring speed to lowest. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-windows-10-task-manager-monitor-system-performance

Note, I see you do not have any BoX game in your profile, is this because you do not have this game, using another login name, or a Steam BoX buyer?

I am the guy in question. ;) I get solid FPS all around, my settings are based on the settings you will find in the threads pinned here in the forum.

The issue you might have is the Ryzen compared to my i3 8350k@4,5GHZ. IL2 in VR is mainly CPU bottlenecked. Only with the latest generation of Intels 9000er series at something like 4,8-5 GHZ you will into an area where you will have GPU bottleneck.

Your Ryzen 5 2600 has a single thread benchmark of only 2143. Even with the latest improvements in IL2 CPU handling, that a tad to low for consistent high FPS in VR.

BTW in the video i never claim to have 90fps in all situations, just a solid performance all around with solid looks and acceptable spotting. And as stated when i launch into the missons, that i want to demonstrate the image quality and not that i have 90 fps at all time.

I maybe to hard in my judgement, my apology for this, while it seems the TS is not active anymore and maybe not have this game.
