Muttl3y Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Hi all, New back to IL2, I purchased the original when it first came out! I am so glad I stumbled on your campaign generator to take the time sink out of creating missions so firstly THANK YOU for creating this Now on to my question. I have searched for the answer to this but my search-fu has failed me. When I set up a campaign, it only gives me one plane as choice to fly missions. I have ticked all relevant planes and maps I have. Here's an example: I set up a campaign for late 1943 as an attacker. I have all three IL-2 models ticked but it gives me a plane I haven't got. All three of those planes can be used for ground attack but I cannot see the option to swap to them Any ideas what to do? I want to do the campaigns but I want to use the IL-2 for ground attack and for fighter I want to learn the LA-5 so I can transition to multiplayer when I can fly them!
PatrickAWlson Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 When you create a squadron you choose the squadron that you want to fly with. For those who want to jump into a specific plane it is definitely a shortcoming. For IL2 it is easy: choose a Russian campaign and pick ground attack for your primary campaign role. They all fly IL2. The model that you get depends on the date. Choose a date well into the introduction year, as older models will still be flying early in the year (i.e. you are going to see IL2 1942 well into 1943). For LA5F choose Kuban map mid 1943. Choose Fighter as the primary role and then choose a La squadron. For La5N choose Kuban map as late as possible (late 43). Choose Fighter as the primary role and then choose a La squadron. The best La squadrons are going to be: 27th Fighter Air Regiment 3rd Guards Fighter Air Regiment
Muttl3y Posted February 8, 2019 Author Posted February 8, 2019 Ah thank you for the heads up. I can see where all the relevant info is now!
