ironk79 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 (edited) I rather have more FOV than a resolution no hardware can really fuel. Also a good sweetspot is veeery importand for me, had a Lenovo explorer in between for a few weeks, flying was terrible compared to Orculus Rift. When checking 6 everything in the corner of your eye was a blurry mess, you had to move your head constantly, just to check instruments. Good ergonomics/weight are very important, didnt realise how important before. Edited February 7, 2019 by ironk79
SCG_motoadve Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 (edited) Rift sweet spot is great, but lower resolution. Vive Pro better resolution , but horrible sweet spot (I returned it because of that) Odyssey + Better resolution, better sweet spot than Vive Pro (So keeping that for now although its very uncomfortable). Heard good things about the Pimax Sweet spot. Pre ordered but no idea when will it ships. If the higher resolution works with currents systems and sweet spot is good, I rather have higher resolution and larger FOV. Edited February 7, 2019 by II./JG77_motoadve

I was looking at some and reading newegg reviews a lot of these cards are dying after 2-3 months... very strange..
SCG_motoadve Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Got the one from Nvidia, Geforce RTX. Heard about some cards dying too , and also was a bit concerned.

I had to watercool my 1080TI to keep it from throttling, I feel the 2080ti needs to follow suit. There's a 2080Ti from Gigabyte that comes with the waterblock...
SCG_motoadve Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 No problems of any sort, really happy with it. Mine is just standard cooling, no water cooling.

dburne Posted February 7, 2019 Author Posted February 7, 2019 I am still holding out for next version of Rift. Time will tell...
chiliwili69 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 This VR headset is a big surprise in resolution and ergonomy. HP realized that Rift form factor is one of the best in the market and they just copied it. With the resolution they just have listened to the current users.(VR heavy users not casual) So we have a fantastic VR headset in term of resolution, it has more pixels than the current Pimax5K+, and double than VivePro or Odyssey+: This together with a 100º FOV, it will produce a very high resolution images, which will definitely improve spotting, ID and eye candy. Then let´s talk about performance. With the internal supersampling ratio that HP will need to apply (it will be around 1.2) it will move (9.3*1.2)=11 million pixels. This is like running the pimax5K+ with 46% SteamVR SS or like running the Rift with 270% SteamVR SS (or 1.6 in OTT). A 1080Ti can manage that relatively well in the 60-90 fps zone. This together with potential FFR or even eye tracking with Dynamic Foveat Rendering could do the trick. My only concern is the FOV. This is a very demanded thing from the flight sim/space sim community. I would dream with a Rift S close to this copper resolution and also a 140º FOV as shown in the Half-dome prototype. But I think it will not be the case. (and I really want to be wrong). In addition is the price item. This HP is targeted for profesional applications. So the price could be quite high compared with current WMR (and also I really want to be wrong)

I had a Lenovo for awhile and the sweet spot wasn't bad ,mine is around 63....I did do the headband padding mod and that brought the unit closer to my face...
