I wonder if anyone has same issue : the launcher doesn't remember the selection I made regarding SLI , so each time before I launch the game I must remember to tick this box

Well, all your settings you are doing here or in the game itself are stored/saved in the startup.cfg file, which you can find

in your game directory (data subfolder) - check if this file or even the directory is not set to read only. That might be an

hint.

When I was running a 980 Sli setup the launcher option doesn't matter.. check the settings in game.

And as a side note, SLI is dead these days. I say that as a long time SLI lover and user. 2018 marked the year I went back to a single card. It was a good run.

Yup, long time SLI user here too. I've had 4 different SLI configurations over the years, so definitely not a hater. Yes it's dead. Just spend the money on a good card, don't need to buy two good cards these days. Money better spent in an M.2 SSD for example.

I still have a functioning SLI (Single Line Interleave) Voodoo 2 setup.  That would be the original SLI before Nvidia bought 3dfx and took the SLI label for Scalable Link Interface.  Played Red Baron 3D on it.

But SLI still works well and is supported in Il-2, and even has the Nvidia profile bits.   I've not heard of any change from the developers of supporting SLI regarding this game.

To OP:  I check the box every time I start the launcher because it's the same for me.  It's always been like that, as [CPT]Hawkeye said,  I don't think it really matters if you check it.  The important thing is that in your startup.cfg you see the line 'mgpu_compatible = 1'.

I could be wrong because it’s been a while since I had SLI but I don’t think it matters if you check the box or not. When I had dual cards I could see them both running regardless of this checkbox.

The only confirmation you're going to get that SLI is actually working and scaling is the SLI indicator, togglable by the Nvidia control panel, and barring that, very noticeable differences in reported framerates compared to when it's disabled.  Both cards running flat out doesn't indicate anything in particular.

Use an overlay like afterburner to see card usage during game if you want to know for sure.

The thing about running SLI in this sim is that many situations are CPU limited and in that case SLI makes no difference.

A while back I ran a bunch of test with dual Titan X cards (yeah I know... $$$ ?)

But there was a good performance boost in the right scenarios.

Just bought a second 1080Ti before they rise in price again. I'll SLI it once I build my new PC with a much better CPU (switching from a 3770k to a 7740x, which has much better single core performance). While I doubt it will prevent slowdowns in all areas, the new CPU should make up the difference. I'm hoping it will give me good FPS with the PiMax 5k headset on the way with relatively high game settings. If SLI turns out to not be as useful as I thought I have something I can sell later.

Any special reason for 7740X, I would have thought a 9600k would out perform it at (much) cheaper price (in my country) and the newer platform allows upgrade path for 9900K at later date, seeing as you would have to buy all new during upgrading from 3770k, just a thought

At the time when i bought it the 7740x wasnt ridiculously expensive and the 9600k was barely out and more expensive. Its been a long process of gathering parts at good prices. When I was looking at performance values the 7740x was in the top 5 performers for single core performance. For some reason the price jumped %180 since then...

I don't have it anymore but I remember that it made such a huge difference at that time. Keep the whole system, it will be a collector historical value piece.
