The Lambretta is a random picture from the net.

Scooters are still very much part of UK culture, associated with Mods, Soul, Northern Soul and Ska. Good things.

It is easy to forget that you guys are so spread out across the world and that some joke references that would be very obvious to a Brit, wouldn't necessarily make sense to some of you.

Next week, we teach you all about Pork Pies and faggots in gravy.

Hope this video clears some misconceptions about VR :salute:

Rothary this is the first time I've seen any sort of video that actually gives an idea of what VR is really like.  That was really good.

Could you do some more like that?

Well here's another one using Sopwith Camel. When using VR you of course also have two views rather than just this one my phone is filming, since you have two eyes and the headset has two lenses. What this means is that the VR world appears to you as 3D through the exact same mechanic real life appears as 3D. This feels really amazing in VR because as a result you can tell distances a lot better. Flying in a very tight formation becomes significantly easier , you can really tell that you're flying high up and you can even see just how big the aircraft actually are. The immersion is really only limited by the lack of physical feel for what you're seeing, which for some people might cause motion sickness.

VR really is one of those things that you just gotta try for yourself to really get the idea.

Note that you can only move freely this far away from the actual cockpit if you're not using the setting that restricts your VR view into the cockpit. Without the setting you can for example simply lean to the side to clip through the canopy of your WW2 plane. What the setting does is simply make you drag the entire world with your view if you go beyond the limit, so if you for example try to push your head through the canopy, you'll be simply pushing the canopy (and the entire world) with your head, which might feel a bit funny.

VR aside for a moment, I've gotten used to seeing the rear-view mirrors on Spitfires in earlier versions of Il-2. That mirror can be surprisingly useful, and I rather miss it when flying the GB version of the Vb. Can this mirror be added or activatable in a future upgrade? I'll just add that while reviewing photos of real Russian Spitfires, I've noticed that the IX usually had a round mirror, and that if there was a mirror on a Russian Vb, it was usually rectangular. I'll also add that, on my rig, the mirrors that appear in other GB cockpit views provide very realistic reflections, nice and sharp, and they don't seem to influence the frame rate.

Why would you need a mirror?

You got cockpit lights. Quit griping.

Points for doing a search before starting another thread, though!

Please pardon a 68-year-old (going on one month) newb. I did indeed search the word "mirror," what appears to be a general discussion entitled "Mirrors" came up, so I posted my question about - a mirror! Could one of you gentleman please point me toward the proper thread for my question?

Any advice in this regard would be much appreciated. Take care. ?

The wrong forum post remarks are because the thread is in the Flying Circus sub-forums and as such was specific to do with mirrors in WW1 aircraft. And your question seemed to be about the mirrors in the Spitfire and as such more suited to the Great Battles sub-forums which tends to deal with WW2 and the series as a whole.

Better places for the question is prob posting in the New Players Start Here thread or searching in the Manuals, Tutorials, Guide and Tips sub-forum for threads about mirrors or posting to ask there.

However some of us WW1 enthusiasts in this part of the forum also enjoy the WW2 products. So can answer you here anyway. The answer to your question is that both the Mark 5 and Mark 9 already do come with mirrors available. It’s just that you need to choose them as modifications in your planes loadout settings.

Check the section in the (Old) Game Manual named 5.3 CUSTOMIZING YOUR AIRCRAFT between pages 27 and 29 if you do not know how to change your planes modifications, skins, fuel and weapons etc. Though ignore the part about needing to unlock things, that’s old information, but the user interface is more or less as given in the manual. I would just show you a screenshot using my game instead but am not on the computer at the moment.

LOL! I'm very grateful for that, Oliver 88. I shall begin where I should have.

With best wishes to you, and to JG51_Beazil.
