CountZero Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) To offten i notice online players flying in tight formations and are easy targets, or more offten players not on teamspeak trying to fly with someone and then think best way to do so is to fly on his 6 200m behined him, thouse are one of the worst posible formation flyings in game as your mostly just target for enemy and no help for your leader, and when on 6 of frendly who is not on coms with you your even more destraction for him then help. This combat spread for element of 2 is best posible formation for game, here is video of explaining it: its effective, easy to maintain in turns, and depending on spread enemy may not even know hes fighting or attacking 2 guys who are in formation, turns are quick and formation is keept with minimal comunication and just sides are switched Edited February 1, 2019 by 77.CountZero 3
Requiem Posted February 2, 2019 Posted February 2, 2019 Funny to read this post as the next videos I'll be releasing are about formation flight! ? Like you said a lot of players either fly too close together or the wingman is too far back (ie-sucked) which means there is no true mutual support even though they're flying together. There is nothing wrong flying around in fingertip, but once you start getting near a combat area you should switch it up to a more tactical formation. Most of the time in formations you see pilots flying sucked behind the lead likely because they want to keep sight of them and fly looking straight ahead. 3 1

That would be nice as you do great turtorials and explain things well, next level for new players is to form up with someone, and they should not fallow what they see in movies as it dosent work in online competitive enviroment. ( i can understand flying historicly in bad formations like V shape on events or historical campaigns and so on, but on fast food servers or competitive campaigns its best to forghet some of ww2 formations and use whats best most of the time) Edited February 2, 2019 by 77.CountZero

FTC_Riksen Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 In SCG we use two approaches during our missions: - Welded wing: Looks nice and it is great for picture taking but that's about it. This formation limits the SA of the group and it is harder to maneuver. The only advantage, besides looking cool, is that it sometimes makes it easier to stay together during the climb and ingress; - Combat spread: Clearly the best one for maneuverability and SA. Very hard to be bounced in this formation and gives the possibility of executing loose deuce maneuvers faster and trapping your enemy. The issue is that this doctrine usually requires the pilots to have a skill in judging depth and distance which a lot of newer pilots struggle with. We also sometimes use a mix of the two, in the so called element-spread, when we fly a Schwarm. This one consists of having each element fly in a combat spread between each other but the wingman stay in welded wing within the element. This one is specially useful when you have experienced members leading the elements. 2
