Flying Circus pilot head outside the plane?

Hi guys, I have taken the plunge and bought FC even though I already own ROF and Il 2 on Steam!  Anyway, my problem is the view in VR and 2D is always defaulting to outside the right side of the plane. I can move the head view  back to center with the head movement keys but  when I center the view it defaults back to outside and to the right of the cockpit!  Is there a key to recenter the view or how do I do this.  Center view key (default KP 5) defaults to the right of the cockpit
