Nostalgia IL2 Pacific Fighters 2008 - Past and Future

There may be in the works a future announcement of a Pacific Fighter project. So just for those of you that were nostalgic about the past Pacific Fighter era, find here an edited video that I made in 2008 with the IL2 Pacific Fighters of the time. Feel free to comment and criticize ? , it will help me for future projects, but this one is an archaeological object and so unfortunately it cannot be improved anymore.

I made this video with the Mission Builder of the time. Those who took part in the Pacific Fighters adventure of 2004-2008, will have some nostalgia. IL2 1946 did not really allow to improve things too much, so I did not use it, the project was already started.

It was the first part of a very large project to cover all the Guadalcanal campaign, but that finally was never finished, so it remained in my long term storage archive. It was an extremely time consuming work. As usual lack of time, family and professional obligations etc. etc. killed the project.

Just for the record all the palm and coconut trees you see have been added by hand, and at that time the MB did not allow for groupings. Every object motion had to be carefully edited as interference between objects and the shore was not trivial. Synchronizing actions between all active or dynamic objects was a painstaking work.

Comparing the graphic quality we have today on BOX, and the functionality of the new BOX mission editor, there is a fantastic jump in graphics, maps, and MB possibilities. If I had all that in 2008 I would have been able to finish the whole project.

But the past Il2 was still better on one point: the objects library was much richer than what we have today, mainly in terms of "military personnel" and ground objects. I hope that this will improve over time, and it may be a must for a future Pacific Fighters release as this is typically a air-sea-land battle scenario.

I hope you enjoy it.
