Breakable ice?

The whole scenario of a frozen river with supply lines/troops snaking across it got me thinking about the possibility of being able to blast great big holes in the ice or crack it sufficiently with cannons that vehicles fall through.

Of course, not nice (mostly for the Russians) for those crossing the Don but hell this is war and war is hell so if this could be built into the DM it would add an extra element of carnage....^^
