Zmaj76 Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) upcoming v4.12 patch: When I look back...2001....I was young and so excited about this sim which, then, looked much different than today....Its still the king of the hardcore sims...The only one in "hardcore" genre with massive MP...Its not all about shiny graphics and super uber (but sometimes not so accurate hehe) FMs and DMs.... AA_Engadin Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Outstanding job indeed! So well done ... As we say in my country, hope is the last thing you should loose. You help it to be so. Keep it up. The Kursk video tells it all about the great effort involved. And the taxi lights are a great innovation. IMHO it does not necessarily affect inmersion. The marks on the ground are postponed Santa's gifts, ein? Just a heartfelt thank you. AA_Engadin Edited January 15, 2013 by AA_Engadin

Bearcat Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 The King is doing quite well. I spoke to him this morning hefore I left the house.. This is why I feel that CoD and RoF are yardsticks on modern day features but as far as overall features to make BoS agreat sim.. IL2 should be the most used yardstick.
Zmaj76 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Time will tell BC. Currently hardcore sims are all about features, visuals and new planes. Lack of critical FM revisions or essential fixes in 777? Edited January 16, 2013 by Tvrdi
Skoshi_Tiger Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) One thing that the original Il2 experience tells me is that any sim needs to be successful and in development for about 10 years to reach a level of maturity and content to compete with something like Il2. My initial experience will the original IL2 was very disappointing. It just wouldn't run acceptably on the computer I had at the time. It took until Pacific fighters was released before I revisited the series (with a new computer that could actually run it) before I found out what I was missing and I went back and bought all the preceding installments of the series. In my opinion the ability to merge installs was a key point in the success of the original IL2 series. It became a one stop shop for all my simming needs. All the theatres, planes, campaigns missions all in one place. Upgrades to the game engine were upgrades to the entire series. When CoD came along I accepted that it was time for a refresh of the series and I was willing to accept a reduction in the plane set, maps etc because I never looked at the Cliffs of Dover as a standalone Simulation. I looked at it as that first IL2 at release, except this time it worked on my PC and it had me looking forward to another 10 odd years of further development and expansions. Unfortunately that official support was not to be. C'est la vie! I expect I will buy BoS at release (I??? Edited January 17, 2013 by Skoshi_Tiger 1
Bearcat Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 IL2 didn't run great on my rig when I got it. The truth is it doesn't have to run great it just has to run well enough to keep it's users engaged. If it does that..if it is built insuch a way that someone with a 5 year old rig can still enjoy it with some tweaking and someine with a one year old or better rig can really enjoy it it will do well.

With this I completely agree.
